My house is a total mess. The laundry is piling I get about half of what I should get done at work because I am only willing to give an hour overtime at day.
My marriage is not what my friends would call normal. I didn't get my Christmas letter out this year.

I am gaining weight. I don't get my teeeth cleaned regularly.

Am I failure?

absolutely not....there could be lots of reasons...some are depression, some are high expectations, being overwhelmed, or many more...There are reasons for this....you are NOT a failure!

Sweetheart if that is what you think a failure is then I am one too and so is most of the people I know. It is so easy to get stressed out about what you dont think that you are doing right. Belive me I know this cause I do it one a regular basis. Just try to stay focused on the positive and the rest will fall into place it takes work but it will happen. YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE.

Randy is right- this would make me a failure too. I always feel like I am behind. I think this is because I push myself too hard.

Okay, then I am a failure too...I am behind on lots of things and keep making excuses for it....why? I do not know....

Maybe we should take things one at a time????

I agree, GG. We should take things one at a time, and on completion, compliment ourselves. Like an affirmation.

Tiger- tomorrow I will tell myself I will do one thing. I need to repair an afghan that my puppy nibbled on and chewed a little hole in. My best one!! I will do that and then tell myself that I am ALL THAT. That might make me feel great, and I might want to do one more thing. Who knows?

Thanks for the suggestion, GG.

TT~

Start with baby steps every day. Write down your goals/to do list for each day. Start to do a lil at a time. Then take a break and reward yourself after every task you accomplish. This is what I do and it works fabulously well!

There are many triggers for the way you feel. It could be procrastination, depression, feeling overwhelmed. The main thing is to show love to yourself and not to be harsh or judgemental toward you.

Blessings, Ras~

Lets start calling ourselves unorganized instead of failures. All we need to do is to set our priorities, Get the proper motivation and keep to it. When ever I clean I listen to my favorite music that really keeps me moving. And for motivation I have started thinking what in the world would people think if they came into my apartment right now. That's enough motivation to get up and get it done. SO WE ARE UNORGANIZED NOT FAILURES.

I know what you mean tiger. if you are one I am too!

I don't get my teeth cleaned regularly, my daughters underwear are a size to small, I am always broke, I NEVER cook, my laundry is in a huge pile and I am out of clean pants, my christmas cards were not sent out either, I am late on two credit card bills, and I only work at about 35 % of my capacity.

So yep, its no good, but really rather funny when you write it out like that:)

I hope my list made you feel better about yourself, cuz compared to me, you are a princess.

Don't be so hard on yourself. No one is perfect and if you think someone is, then they are darn good at hiding their inperfections.

okay thanks guys. I am not a failure. maybe just unorganized or maybe just a normal human being. I always compare myself to my brothers, they have perfect children, neer overdraw their bank aoccount. or my over achieveing co worker or something. I wish I could realize that this is my marriage and my life and my work. my teeth whatever.
ps. I meant this to go on the support threads but I had been reading these liberation ones. Wow, it's like reading somebody else's thoughts.

NONE of us are failures!!!!!

Everyone gets behind and has laundry pile up, bills paid late, etc. That is just part of being a person- especially in this crazy world. Those that appear to not have these issues are just better at hiding it than others-- and some of us readily admit to it.

My list of unaccomplished things includes (but not limited to)...

-clutter everywhere and boxes still needing to be unpacked since I moved into this house in March of 2004

- need to clean 5 dirty cages (2 birds, 3 dog) and change out the litter pans

- dishes have piled up from a week ago Thurs. (so about 10 days)... I am eating breakfast off of a tupperware lid and drinking coffee out of a measuring cup becuase all the cups and plates are dirty (but I will get to this one today)- its pathetic but humerous too

-currently washing clothes- too many to get through it all today-- but I have to wash my uniforms and iron them before work tomorrow

-floors haven't been swept or mopped since Thanksgiving- although old dog accidents have been cleaned up on a weekly basis... most of the time

-dust everywhere- dust bunnies so big that I should name them and start careing them like the rest of my pets

-bills are in the process of being paid- but many are late because I don't have enough to cover all of them until later this month.

-dogs all need baths, and have needed a bath since Oct- but this is a low priority

-haven't washed my hair in 3 days... this is another thing I will have to do before work tomorrow

-the yard needs to be mowed and weeded and trimmed (living in the subtropics means year round yard care)... another low priority until it gets so shaggy that I will get a ticket from the city. So I have about another week or two before I have to deal with that.

I also have a list longer than this of things I am slacking on at work too.

I try my best to get stuff done, but can't seem to live up to my expectations of myself right now. Sometimes in life I am really on top of things and other times I am not.

I don't think anyone is a failure when they are going through down time in thier lives... I just take it as a time when my brain is busy processing things on a different level of life than the day to day stuff.

Be nice to yourself- it is normal to get behind from time to time- sometimes I stay in a behind mode for years- then get inspired to pull it all together for a few months then drift back into old habits. I'm beginning to think that I just need to accept that I just have too much to keep up with.

CM,

Your are too funny (and honest!!!!) I am right there with ya!

I have a box that I have yet sent to my sister with the leftover Avon products I accumulated from being an AVON lady a couple of years ago. Her birthday is in May.

I have a "Happy Birthday" card, a "Merry Christmas" card.....another "Happy Birthday" and now....still ANOTHER "Merry Christmas."

I am determined to get this out before May, 2007!!!!!!!!

🙂
