Seems to me, here lately, that it has somehow become "in (along with other awards)with a slight nod towards god and say that they have been truly "blessed."

At first I thought, awwww isn't that humble of them?

Then - in watching "The View" Joy Bahr had enough where-with-all to speak out and say that "Are not the people that have recently perished in tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, cyclones, tsumanis etc.....NOT being "blessed" to which a great roar from the audience validated her thinking?

This kind of caught me by surprise, but - bu the same token - really resonated deep within me as I thought that she really put her pulse on the real matter of it all.

Being "blessed" - what does that mean anyhow?

When things are going great in your life and you stand up from the red carpet and accept an award and give all the glory to god and that you personally have been "blessed in such process" where does that leave all the others that have perished in natural disasters?

Were somehow all of those thousands of innocent people whom perished in these natural tragedies somehow "not blessed?"

Sometimes....I really wonder.

I wonder what we - are able to swallow - hook - line - and sinker in all of this mess?

Talk about sugar-coating!!!!!

Singling out the "rare few?"

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give me a break already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry folks. Just don't "buy into it."

Not anymore.

The Haves and the Have-nots, and the ultimate extremes of that are one of the great mysteries of the human condition that the great religions try to explain away. The best thing that spirituality does provide for the faithful is an ability to appreciate the wonder of what they DO have and to see through the illusion of what is not important. But then again, does it immobilize some who could be fighting for justice? Or does it give them strength? It depends on the individual... I would say, that individuals who are interested in seeking justice on any level are strengthened by their faith... what would you say?

I know I've gone off on a tangent.

The academy awards and such always seemed to me to be a masturbatory ceremony and a huge festivial of the mutual appreciation society that is the film industry.

However, it sure was nice to see that Javier Bardem got one, purely because I like to watch him! I guess we buy into it when it entertains us! But seriously, blessed? In a way they are. By LUCK. Are they talented? Sure, but so are countless others.
