Hi, I think some of you know I am a scrapbooking nerd, but I am using it theraputicly this year and making an album to reflect all of the major things and points of growth. I am going to do my birthday on the 10th, my valentines day alone, I did the pages for New Years last night, plan to do any court stuff I do with my daughters father and how it went and how it felt to me, what I learn from all of these things, stuff like that. ANyone have any suggestions for the sort of things in their life they wish they had perserved in some way to look back on after the fact? It doesn't all have to be pleasant stuff, just stuff that is part of my growing and learning life proccess, but I want to make sure I get it all in there this year! It's just a private book for me and maybe for my daughter later when she grows up (:( so sad), but I still want it to be thurough.

I regret that I didn't keep something to remind me of my friendships of former years. Often I just remember a name, but I don't have photographs, or I remember a face, but don't know where to place it.

Hi ef - I'm a scrapbooker too - I design sample pages for a couple of companies highlighting their new products, and I love it. FUN STUFF!

Since remembering growth is important to you, how about creating pages about people that have helped you to grow, and how they have helped you. Maybe someone took you to dinner and you had an enlightening conversation? Maybe there are quotes that have helped you through tough times?

Have you taken up any new hobbies, or visited any new places to help you get through those difficult, or lonely times? When I was lonely, I would take long walks and pick up things like bird feathers, or I would bring home interesting leaves/flowers and press them - I journaled what I was thinking about when I went on those walks.

Good luck - I know how I can pass the hours scrapbooking - have fun, cutie!

Love - Shaney

Shaney, that sounds like great fun!!! They pay you to do it?

You know, I think you are onto something: I'm thinking about just saving EVERYTHING, taking souvigneirs from any thing that feels special to me, and then waiting for insperation to strike. At the time that major impact is being made it is hard to really grab onto for me, I find that later when I am reflecting is when soemthing really inspiring unfolds and hits me over the head.

Yeah - I get paid for it - can you believe it ?!! At the end of the month, I'm going Las Vegas to some big craft show, to help out in one of the booths. I'll let you know if I see anything new and inspiring.

Everyday, when you're just puttering around, grab stuff... anything. If you don't use it you can always throw it away. But for me, I think a lot, and you never know when the smallest object will spark a thought or an emotion. Use pieces of your daughter's clothing and sew them onto your page, or stuff that she picks up that she finds interesting. Everythiing is a memory as far as I'm concerned. Have fun ef... I need to get insprired too! I've been so pissed after the holidays that I'm finding it hard to feel creative. Thanks for the jumpstart :o)

Shaney, I did a page on time titled "Pushing my buttons" for a more serious collection I have, and used shredded pieces of a mean e-mail from ex with the sentances that where abusive but sbtle within the context of the letter in red ink instead so that they stand out as really terrible things to say, and included a picture of him drinking and a picture of him passed out. It;s just for my private book, but it was something very theraputic and validating for me to make when I first started coming to grips with the emotional abuse and his alcoholism. I also included a little corner of it that was in contrasting paper, a pretty silver with small feathers embossed on it, "a touch of hope", which was a caring letter from my best friend telling me she thought the relationship was becoming dangerous to me and that she worried and loved me and felt I was being abused. I printed it on Velum and used two little angel shaped punched out peiced I glued to the top of some brads to hold it over a small black and white print of her face smiling sweetly. I'm always amazed at the sort of things you would nev3er think of scrapping that later speak volumes, especially the little touches that change the entire story the page tells!

Do tell what you learn while you are working the booth--it's good to have people on the "inside"!

Ooooh yeah, I'm one of those covert scrappers down and dirty on the inside.

I LOVE what you did with the emails from the mean ex.... with the pics of him drinking and passed out. I LOVE IT! After you get completely over this part of your life, you're going to look back at the "private collection" and die laughing at the mad scrapping you were doing. You WILL, I guarantee it.

I remember keeping a disgusting pic of my ex h on my frig. I may have told you this before - but it was a pic of him, sitting on the ground (beer cans strewn about) with the poor deer that he just shot - his gun was in one hand, a beer in the other, and he was sporting a cowboy hat because apparently he became a cowboy while on his hunting trip. It always reminded me of the deer-killing, beer drinking, wannabe cowboy s.o.b. that he always was. It nauseates me to recall that part of my life. So ef, you will forget, it does get better, and you do move on to laugh about it later.... I'm living proof!

Hey Shaney, did you go to that Scrapbooking thing yet? Got any secrets from the inside?

I found something kind of fun, a local bar around here does a "cutting-edge" crop, the theme this week is "my worst look ever" and last week they did "the hardest lesson I ever learned". I guess this week everyone is coming sporting said worste look, and I'm thinking of going. I've never gone to a crop before, being sort of into the gritty side of scrapbooking, but this sound sort of like the seedy underbelly, so I may check it out...I may even meet a rugged sensitive boy scrapper...a girl can dream, right?

Shaney, did you ever do that booth? I've been making accordial albums with chipboard and lots of distressing lately (loving the wild asparagus line), and am still curious about your 'insider info'. What's up and coming?
