I so badly wanted to attend Friday's meeting, but am stuck at home with pneumonia. Can someone tell me and all those who couldn't make the meeting what happened?

The Friday May, 19 meeting was attended by approximately 40 current and former volunteers. No staff attended. Although uninvited, ED Marty Hiller attended this meeting. Unsure if we would be allowed to stay, we began with a lighting of a candle and silence in recognition of our immense respect for Jane and our shared goal for her return. We were all seated in a big circle. We simply started by each person in turn introducing themselves and saying what they wanted and needed to say. The eloquence was astounding, the respect and love for Jane immense, the urgent need for Jane's return was universally held, and the concern and anger over present conditions were voiced. Marty was about the 12th in turn and said that he was there to listen and hear our concerns. The people he heard are amazing people and an immense resource to the Free Clinic. And they are the tip of the iceberg. It probably took well over an hour for the above. Marty then agreed to reply to any questions except those directly related to personnel actions taken regarding Jane. He answered questions about whether he thought staff were happy working at the Clinic (no, they are upset), whether money raised for the building fund pulled money away from services (no, with details), whether he heard our great love and utter respect for Jane (yes, she has done remarkable work), and how strongly we want Jane back (yes), how he saw his management style (he has strengths and weaknesses, noting that he had never before heard the concerns of these volunteers), whether there had been any planning on the effect of Jane's absence on hotline in particular (not really, but staff was looking into it and while training has been delayed it may start somehow in a few weeks), whether hotline was being killed off (no, hotline is a highly valued service of the Free Clinic), whether he would be willing to consider a more open and inclusive management approach (he appreciated and would consider our suggestions), whether it is possible that Jane will be reinstated (yes, the full board meeting may decide that and direct that Jane be reinstated), whether he would accept such a decision and work with Jane (he felt he could but would cross that bridge when he got to it). Marty then agreed to leave, at our request, offering to meet anyone with further questions, allowing us to proceed with our meeting which included letter writing and petitions.
Every person attending I'm sure has many impressions and interpretations of what happened at this meeting. I have tried my best to give an account of what went on since there have been 2 threads asking for this information. If I have misstated anything, please forgive me.

Pretty accurate.

If the Board does not only re-instate Jane, but find solutions to involve Staff & Volunteers more in the 'course' of the Free Clinc, including buffering Marty from the Staff & removing the 'new management team' from managing Staff, then I believe the next course of action is summed up in the following thread:
