Thanks to all the volunteers who are fighting for what is right and standing up against injustices at the Free Clinic! This is all of our Free Clinic! I know that this cannot be an easy place to be a volunteer right now and I am amazed by and extremely thankful to everyone who is hanging in there.
Keep fighting the good fight!

I walked in the door of the Free Clinic as a medical patient 19 years ago. There was 1 doc on hand and 65 clients to be seen and yet I was treated with caring and respect and given full attention to my immediate problem ( a case of the flu) as well as attention to other possible concerns. I was so impressed that I took down the number from a small sign that said "Volunteers Welcome" and went into Hotline training. Again, the people that I met in training were so dedicated to the Clinic and so nurturing of each other and everyone who came in to volunteer that the Clinic became almost literally my second home. I worked not only HL, but Medical Intake & Histories & spent time in the now defunct community arts program. I was newly divorced and at loose ends. Like so many others I found that I gained more than I gave in volunteer service to this remarkable organization. There is certainly still a core group of people who are trying to carry on the tradition of service and caring that drew me, Paul Dixie (who was in my HL training class) and so many others to the Free Clinic and I have to believe that they, that WE, will prevail against those who have lost sight of or never understood the Clinic's mission in the first place. Courage, all.
