I am wondering if there is anyone else having issues with detachment. I did pretty good today getting to a detached mind set, but it took me a week of obsessing. I read the chaper titled "detachment" in Codependent No More.

Is anyone out there interested in being my sponsor? I could realy use someone to "talk" with when I get in a codependent funk. Someone who I can discuss my recovory with. I would like to exchange e-mail addresses. Mine is [email protected]

Killapiller~

Have you been working the steps or anything like that?

I've read all of Melody's books and am reading a new one now called: Codependency, Dance of the Wounded Soul by Robert Burney. It's a more spritual look at Codependency and I am really enjoying it.

Anyway, I have not yet worked the steps but I am ready too. I would love to work along side with you and help each other along if needed.

I can detach from most everything now except my ex-husband. I let him get to me every time.

Be Well.

Boy oh, boy do I know about struggling with detachment. If you figure out the trick let me know. Until then I find it helpful to keep saying "Let go and Let God" and to start posting here whenever the codependent crazies set in. Good luck on your recovery journey!

tracylyn,

I would love to work the steps with you. I tend to jump around with them, so where would you like to start?

I read a section from "Dancing...." in an artical, and I think that will be one of the next books I buy, but first I want to get "Codependents guide to the 12 steps" and Melody's daily meditaional book.

The part I read was about obessions, and getting past childhood issues. I know I need to get over my abandonment issue and need to feel love.

Spud,

I was on a white cloud lastnight when I made my post, but when I woke up this morning the obsession was back. AUGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!! I did some praying today, made the decision to date other men, and got on here, and I seem to be doing better. It is funny, I have this obsession with my ex, and it is the obsession that is standing in my way of getting back together with him. I am not dating other men to manipulate and play reverse psycology on him, I am doing it so I can have some social aspects to lookforward to. I have one girlfriend. I know, that is pathedic to admit, but it is true. And I do not think you can post a personal add to make friends, but you can to date guys, and the responce is great. That is why I am choosing to date other men.

Killerpillar~

Great, thank you, thank you. I gave my 12 step book to my sister. I'm sure it's collecting dust so I'll have to get it back from her. I read it thru but didn't work at the steps, made some improvements just by reading it though. Let me get it back and flip thru it and I'll let you know.

I also have the daily meditations and it's great. I don't have the second one, I think there are two now.

The Dance of the Wounded Soul is great, just a very different look at codependency. Very spiritual. He has a website....Joy2ume.com where he is writing an online book as well. I try to hit his site once a week or so to see what he has added. He is very personal too. When I ordered the book he wrote a note to me on the inside. He also does phone counceling for very cheap and I e-mailed him once asking for advise and he very promply got back with me. It's a good site.

Good luck to you.

Be well.

I have read Melody Beattie's books and they have proved great inspiration and hope. "If you follow her advice." The book of daily meditations is the best. I am in therapy know for a very serious problem of detachment I find that the talking out of problems helps. Good luck to you!!

Yeah, I love the daily meditations. They seem to fit exactly what I may be going thru on the certain day. Pretty amazing.

Rubysjewel

Have you come across any jewels of wisdom on how you deal with your detachment issue?
