Compassion fatigue is a condition that affects people who work in the helping professions.  It is a natural human response to hearing about traumatic events.  This prolonged exposure to trauma takes a toll the person.  It can cause exhaustion, headaches, irritability, low self-esteem, and general stress.  Treating compassion fatigue means practicing self-care and asking for support when it's needed.  Take care of yourselves so you can take care of others.

YOGA, meditation, taking breaks, days off, breathe deeply, avoid unnecessary stress, bubble bath, laughing and surrounding yourself with loving kind people are all simple way to deal with this.

I agree to both of you Tamara and relief. I guess it's a matter of taking it easy. It's like food consumption, eating too much will make you sick.
