I think discrimination is changing, it's not so much about the color of your skin anymore as it is about your sexuality.  I can't believe all of these beatings (high school) and bully of kids that are not heterosexual.  It's so sad these days.  Do you see this too?

Yes, I see that, but I think there is still a problem with racism in this country. I live in the deep south and there is a lot of discrimination here. Not everybody is like that, but there is more of it going on than you would expect to see in this day and age.

I agree with BettyAnn, both forms of discrimination are still problems. Unfortunately, I don't think racism or homophobia will ever completely disappear. People naturally fear those who are different than them. All we can do is keep trying to improve as much as we can with each generation, but that's easier said than done.

As long as there is grouping of people then there will always be racism. If everyone in the world would think that everyone is the same and that there is no difference then racism will be gone. In all aspects of human society there is division and this creates racism in some sense.

Exactly! People fear what they are ignorant about. I do see some improvements compared to years ago but we have a lot further to go. I don't see it ever going away completely but I think as people are educated maybe they will be a bit more accepting.

There is still discrimination of every kind.  While some tolerances are growing and even some understanding is taking place, kids are still learning 'bad ways' from their parents.  I watched a Dr. Phil episode on bullying recently and the parents just don't think their precious babies are responsible for squat.

It's sad though isn't it?  I don't remember so many people committing hate crimes when I was growing up (against homosexuals).  It's out there now, perhaps people just did not come out when I was growing up.  There are many ignorant people in this world.
