I would love to be able to find a counselor online that I could talk to. I have a super busy schedule so it would be a better fit for me, the problem is the cost. Are there online counselors that take insurance or do anything that is not super expensive?

I haven't tried getting online counseling before. Just hang around here and I'm sure there are counselors here that can direct you to the right site. Maybe you can state what type of counseling you needed so that the right counselors can tell you what to do.

Online counseling is difficult for both patient and counselor. Body language says a great deal about your thoughts and intentions and that is missing in online counseling unless you use a webcam which would be very uncomfortable to me. If it works for you though, it's great.

I agree with AnxietyRUs, body language says a lot. So if you do online counseling, working with a webcam at least--I think would be helpful. I have a lot of problems with counseling in person, so for me, it would be difficult to do online. Have you thought about phone counseling?

The topic of this thread is interesting from a therapists and a clients stand point. Insurance companies where I live only pay for licensed therapists i.e. licensed marriage family therapists, licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, etc. Then, these individuals have to fill out paperwork to become an approved provider. Most insurance companies only have approved providers that live in a certain geograhical location. I assume this means you would need to have your counseling done by a provider that lives in your vicinity. A person would need to call their insurance provider to find out if they pay for on line counseling. To the best of my knowledge therapists need to be licensed in the state where they are providing counseling to and from. Another issue that concerns licensed therapist is trying to get malpractice insurance that would cover on line therapy. Confused

Thank you for all of your input. I didn't realize that therapists had to be licensed through each state. I am going to contact my work hotline and see if there is anyone in my area, even if they could do something over the phone sometimes it would help me tremendously.

Most on line counseling is a referral service. They try to determine what your problem is. Give you a few minutes to vent then refer you to community resources. They don't do any therapy.

@Rhyannon: Many non-profit organizations provide online counseling on debt management, personal budgeting, and debt consolidation through debt management programs or equity loans. They also provide free tools to manage your credit and debt.

hm, there are a lot of consultants in the Internet, and, I have a question, what kind of insurance are you talking about? Car insurance? Health? However, personally, I know about an option to purchase both of these insurances simultaneously 🙂 You have to buy car insurance that includes health insurance 😉 Frankly speaking, I purchased such insurance http://www.total-insurance.co.uk when I started working as a taxi driver, and you know, it's profitable, because in case of any accident I will be paid compensations
