Well, dear concerned ePals,
my daughter had her first therapy session yesterday. She played with and talked with with the counsilor... and made no concerning statements.

I understand this does not mean anything either way.

She did, however, come to our bed last night and seemed on edge.

We have another appointment in 3 weeks. We may only have one or two more.

I feel so empty. So much has happened...physical and emotional signs. I feel exhausted. No support from husband on this issue whatsoever.

I am glad for my daughter's strengths and her life.

Thanks for caring.

Whitelight,

I'm sorry I don't know your story. Just wanted to say to be so very supportive of your daughter and hold her often to make her feel secure.

Thanks mamaC,
I had two earlier threads.

"Any parents out there with young children who have been abused by a relative?"

and

"Adult survivors of sexual abuse, what helped you?"

We are blessed with many caring people at this site.

Our daughter probably was sexually abused by her paternal grandfather over two years ago.

He had a medical event and had to come stay with us for awhile. As he recovered more and became more physically able, his daughter called me one night and warned me not to leave the kids alone with him. He had abused her for years! Sadly, I already had............

Our little girl was a few weeks shy of her 4th birthday. I held my breath (so to speak) watched and waited. There were signes that I did not recognize at the time. I thought nothing had happened until some weeks ago, she was playing with her brother and came out with a concerning statement.

I appreciate having a place to talk and read feedback. The "trail" we have to work with is unfortunately an old one, the memory is that of a very young child, and this will all probably, almost assuredly, go nowhere.

A few days ago, my husband suggested counciling for us. I snapped, "we don't need to be in counsiling! Your father needs to be in prison!"

I guess I have anger issues.

Thanks for being here.

It's a life of hell but you will survive just be open honest and yes MAD as hell but get the help you all need. I hope God wraps his arms around your baby girl protects he from any more harm . I'm sure it can take some time for her to reveal and come to terms with what may have happened. I hope you had a chance to speak to a therapist (hers or another) who can help you understand what it would mean to a child so young, if they would even remember it, how they would process it, and how it might manifest itself in the future. Hang in there.
