Thank you truthBtold - what a great post. Thank you for the advice and the web addresses. I'm going to take some time to look these up.

Things do happen for a reason, and at the moment, I just can't figure out why our course has been so rocky this last year. We're exhausted, really. But we'll live, and this will hopefully all make good sense someday soon.

I've been laid off in the past too - and what a gut-kick that is. But we survive, don't we? Somehow we figure it out and live on. I'm sure this situation with us will be no different. So thank you again, for your kindness. :o)

Hey everyone - things haven't changed for the better or worst. I took money out of savings to pay for the next couple of months rent so we'll have some time to figure this out.

We don't have a lot of choices at this point. Apparently, the buyer and his agent don't want to release the deposit to us. You know, the one they have to give to us just in case they fall out of escrow? Well, now their being nasty about that, and not releasing it. That in itself would buy us some more time to sell our house, that has been off the market now for a month and a half, while they lied and cheated their way through this escrow. I'm just so pissed.

M is due home today. We're both just sick to our stomachs. I guess we'll figure out some of our options together. He came up with a couple of funky ones already - but we all know that money isn't his strongest suit. Ugh.

I did call our new landlord to let him know what was going on. He said that he would let us out of our lease, no problem, but would do everything that he could to keep us in here. Thank God for good people. That takes a little pressure off.

Well, I'm going to take a shower and try to look good for M when he gets home. I looked like shit when he left, so I need to turn that around. I think I'll make dinner tonight too, which he LOVES.

SO, day by day is all we can do until we hear from those assholes on Monday or Tuesday. I imagine that they'll torture us some more by making us wait the max amount of time that they have to reply... more stress. If I don't lose all of my hair, or have a mental collapse in the next few weeks, I'll be surprised.

love you guys.

I am Cancer and tend to get very moody and I get very attached to homes. I hope it works out okay. Somehow it ought to work out with the between the escrow and stuff.
I will hope for that

Shaney,

I'm glad that your current landlord is being so understanding. That must have taken a HUGE load off.

I hope that you and M are able to put it aside for the time being and have a nice night together.

Love,
Lolli

I'm sorry that you are having to go through such mess. I have a rental house (my first home) and the house I now live in. I rent my original house, but now I am thinking of leaving my husband and moving back home, the only place where I had security.
Anyway, if your house is a wreck, you can always fix it up while you live there. If you decide to sell it while renting it, I strongly suggest that you get a REALTOR to work for you. THEY will show the house, not the renters. They will schedule appointments, etc. and be working FOR YOU. I can only guess that you did not use a REALTOR when you put the "sure thing" together? A REALTOR would have told you that the sale was contingent upon the sale of the buyers home and you would not be in this horrible position.
By the way, I am not a real estate sales agent or a REALTOR. They are worth the commission that you pay. What would you have given to avoid the mess you are now in?
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for the support, guys.

Slow - we've had our house listed with an agent for the last 6 months. We've sold the house twice and have gone all the way thru escrow both times, only for it to fall out for various reason. The buyers were scammers, and so were their agents. The most recent buyer and his agent, both lied right to our faces about his need for a short escrow, as he was going through a divorce and had to move out of his home quickly. We set up a thirty day escrow, leased a new home for a year, and moved out the day escrow was to close. They asked for an extension, all the while still holding to their story that everything was going smoothly, and he was ready to move in. It was all a lie. He had a home that he needed to sell BEFORE he could obtain a loan to buy ours. This was hidden and therefor wasn't a contingency in the original papers. Anyway, we're figuring it out and hoping to stay where we are, while we leave our house up for sale, and empty.

Renting would be a bigger pain for us than just keeping it empty and up for sale. Pool and yard maintenance, fixing the things that are broken that renters would need, would be more costly and more time consuming than we want to deal with.

We just went yesterday to clean the house so our realtor could start to show it again. He called this morning and had five phone messages on his cell, from people that wanted to see the place today. Good news! I'm having the water and power truned back on there, until we sell it - that wasy we can still maintain the pool and the yard. The only thing I need to have done is the carpets, then it will be ready to show whenever anyone wants to see it.

I'm hell bent on staying in this rental, and in this town. I'm planning on paying all of the rent and bills myself, until that house sells - while M is keeping up with that mortgage. I think we can swing this for a few months. I'm optimistic because I just landed a couple of more side jobs that will help out. Besides, M will have to drag me back to that hell hole kicking and screaming, to get me to move back. Just being back in that town and in that house while we were cleaning yesterday, made my stomach turn. Things may be rather "thin" for a few months, but I'm on a mission and I'm not giving up without a balls-out fight.

M and I were talking last night, and if nothing else, this situation has forced us to work together financially - which we were having big trouble with before, if any of you remember. There's no room for over-spending and not keeping track of our money, as this point. This has definitely brought us together and given us a slap-in-the-face lesson in selflessness. That tax return that he was claiming as his own a while back - well that's not the case anymore. WE are using it to live, not buy toys. So, some good is coming out of this already, I think. Attitudes are changing and we're working together.

Anyhoo. I'm doing laundry and will be near by. Take care all - S

Yep bev, let's hope it's workable and not too overly optimistic. I just REALLY feel that this is where we are suppose to be - and I'm not giving it up just yet. I may be poor for the next few months, but I know people in worse situations than mine. Thanks for the continued support - if you pray, throw one of those up for me as well :o).
