Hello all, I got the book Women Who Love Too Much in the mail yesterday. I looked it up after hearing about it on this site, and I just have to say...oh my, does it describe me almost perfectly. I've never read anything that so matches me and how I am based on my relationships and childhood. I suggest if you haven't read it to check out some reviews online and see if maybe it could be a book that would help you.

oooh my gosh, great book, when i read the back cover, I thought the author was writing about my life, I have to keep re reading it and going thru several paragraphs and know that I am not alone, it is a great book.

***Robin Norwood*** is the author and if you look on Amazon.Com under books you can get used ones for cheap money.

The author is Robin Norwood. Some of the things she talks about is women who find themselves attracted to troubled, distant, moody men, dismissing nice guys as boring. If we feel empty without him, although being with him is torment. If our parents related to us in hostile, critical, cruel, manipulative, overbearing, overdependent, or otherwise inappropriate ways, that is what will feel right to us when we meet someone who expresses, perhaps very subtly, undertones of the same attitudes and behaviors. Those were just a few exerpts, I'll probably post more as I read on further.

Hello All,

I am in the process of finishing the book.

It is excellent! From the first page til now - I see a picture of me on every page.

It has answers so many questions I've had about myself and relationships for so many years.

It is a must read!

Camer:

I'm surely better than I was a few weeks ago. I have good and bad days. I've actually been blessed and I have had almost 3 good days in a row.

I still cry at least once a day. But my heart doesn't literally hurt to the touch at this time.

I don't post much but I come in and read every single day. Just reading the experience, strength and hope of such a supportive group has gotten me through many days.

God is my center also... Glad to hear all is well with you.

It's an excellent book... Make sure you have a highlighter, you may find some phrases, sentences or maybe entire paragraphs to be such a revelation that you want to have them marked.

It explained lots of things to me that i've seen happen my entire life that I never understood before. If nothing else, it's very informative. A must read.

InPain, you made a good point, my book at home has sooooo many highlited parts, and I needed to highlite them just to remind me the
right way to live life and the wrong
way, which in the past I always went back to the wrong way, I guess living in alot of denial or just not ready
to make myself healthy.

Yes after hearing about it repeatedly here I too had to go out and get it at a local bookstore.. And it is a very inexpensive book to boot...

I am half way threw and am finding so much useful and insightful info..

And it's thanks to everyone here I even had heard of it..

It's excellent when coupled with other resource material, too, such as "Codependent No More".

All the times you read something and go "A-HA!" and reach for the highlighter will be nearly countless. I thumb through the book every now and then and re-read the highlighted material, as well. It's always helpful.

I plan to get this one..........sounds like something I can relate to as I am leaving out of my abusive marriage of four years!

Thanks, all for the support and love you gave to give me the courage to leave. I only have two more weeks to go and I am scared, but...........I know I can make it.................he still believes that I am the cause of all his pain and anger.....I guess somethings never change

No more pain for me or my kids! I love them dearly and none of us deserves this kind of treatment! He has taken everything away (phone, tv, computer, blankets including the electricity to punish us all for not respecting his out of control temper tantrums!

Have a wonderful weekend, all.

I just bought this book yesterday and could not stop reading it. I read it cover to cover (all 300 pages) in one day. Do we think I'm desperate....yes. But hey, whatever works. Like others have stated here, it seemed as though Robin Norwood knew me personally when she wrote it!

Don´t mean to butt into the girly chat here, but hey, can this book be relevant to MEN too? Surely it would?? Would appreciate your thoughts? If not, is there a book similar?

Thanx......and I´ll butt out now 😉

Hi Cityflyer: Yes the book can help men too. although women have these characteristics the most, man can also. It also has scenarios from a man's perspective as well. I think it would be great if you read it. SD
