My ex boyfriends sister called me the other day, she wants to get my 5 year old daughter baptised. That was fine with me of course. She also asked if I had a God mother in mind. It took me off gaurd because alhtough I had cahtolc parents, I was adopted when I was ten by christians. I told her it was fine for her to be the God mother, but the more I think about it I dont know. She lives on the east coast and I live in the midwest, I also have two other daughters, and when I die I would like them to all stay together. I have a sister who lives where I do and I havent asked her yet but I know she would gladly take all three. I wonder if two God parents would be okay, but to have one primary. I know it is a silly question but I dont want to offend anyone, but I have to look out for my childrens best interest. How do I tell my exes sister I changed my mind, some things you just cant blame on ADD.

We had my sister and her husband along with my sister-in-law and her husband as the God parents for our son.

mamac...

I know you can have more than 2 godparents. Look into it with your church, or the church where you will baptize the child.

Just because they are the godparents does not mean they are legally entitled to raise the child when you are gone. You must make that decision and leave it in your will. My kids are not going to their godparents...

Have you a WILL drawn up? You can put guardianship, who has physical custody of the children, and you can appoint trustees, the ones that make the decisions for the children, etc in a WILL. My Will has this since I have a blended family. The person w/ guardianship does not make the decisions regaring what they can do, what money is needed for docs, etc. I'm sure you can look into it online. Look under Will and Trusts.

Hope that helpss a little

🙂
