This morning, I have collected everything that was given to me by my ex-N (note, nothing ever purchased, always stuff from around the house), including a ring that only God knows to whom it belonged before and was returned to him. All the CDs of music, the t-shirts, etc. My best friend and I are going down to the beach this morning, and the ring will be tossed into the water. Now knowing what I do about NPD and how little I really meant to this person, I have no desire to keep anything to remind me of that, aside from the lessons I've learned from it. Those I will take with me always.

Today begins a new chapter in my life. No one ever gets to treat me that way again, including me. If I find I can never be attracted to someone who treats me nicely and respectfully, then I choose to be single. If I can learn to accept kindness, generosity of spirit, then so much the better. But, I'm okay being with just myself too. I'm a pretty okay person! 🙂

I wish all of you a Happy New Year and a productive, life-changing, and healthy one.

Way to go whidbey!!! What a declaration of strength and courage! Very proud of you!

I am starting a new chapter of my life today as well! I wrote down all the hurts and heartaches and people who have contributed to that hurt this past year, and burned the paper last night as I let go of 2005. I truly want to live my life in 2006 on purpose and without regret. Holding on to those things was just keeping me in a place I didn't want to be.

I feel liberated, refreshed! And you will too! Out with the old, and in with the new! We'll do it together!

Happy New Year, Whidbey! Wishing you peace and prosperity as you continue on your journey! You are well on your way, my friend!!!

Love, plz~

Out with the old is what I'm doing today as well. Getting rid of things I don't need and keeping things I do enjoy. Good thread.

Thanks, Plz! Hey, the more the merrier. Anyone else symbolically starting over? Join in!

Just a note, this is not denying any feelings one may have, but deciding not to be at the mercy of them any longer and let them dictate my life. We are all in different stages of our journeys, and I'm grateful for those who are "ahead" of me, and I hope and pray that I can be a blessing to those who are not as far as I've been able to come.

This year I will focus more on meeting new people and having gatherings at my home so that I can eventually find the one that God has intended for me.

I will look to see if they are any dysfunction in the individual...I will not trust that easily whether female or male...I will take every relationship very slowly and talk about myself a lot less so as not to give anyone any ideas as to my own insecurities and issues. Dont think anyone really cares (except you guys, of course) and it would only be a source of gossip.

I will focus on my eating and losing about 15 lbs. I already work out too much so all I need to do is eat less fattening food and less CARBOHYDRATES which is my weakness.

Dear Whidbey:

Good for you! Clearing out the physical mementos is an excellent way to start anew and eliminate triggers to unpleasant and hurtful memories.

Wishing you all an empowered and healthier New Year!
