Hi Randy

I cant remember when that happens. It is 16 years ago my youngest was born but I seem to remember it was several weeks before the birth that they said the head was engaged

wish I could help but I am thinking of you and wishing you well

RW,

Don't worry. It is entirely normal for second and third time pregnancies to drop in the seventh month.

It is more common for first time pregnancies to drop only a few days or hours before delivery.

Hope this helps.

RW,

Of course this is not medical advice from me or sleepless (hi, sleepless!).

So you should call your doctor tomorrow for a same day appt. just for your own peace of mind.

Hi Bonita and RW (and little junior RW)

Bonita is right Randy; try to relax and not worry but call the doctor just to put your mind at rest.

Let us know what he/she says and how you are doing

take care

My first was born last June, and he dropped the seventh month as well. I remember the day he decided to turn around...felt a big whooooosh and a rumble and my stomach shook so hard the man standing across from me saw it...lol
don't worry hun, but call your nurse anyways for peace of mind...I called mine every other day in the end;) And congratz!

RW, I can't remember when my kids dropped down but I believe there was a good period of time between then and when they actually were born.

I agree, call the nurse line if you're really worried, they can let you know what to expect, what's normal, etc. Also if you really are going into preterm labor they have a lot of techniques to stop it so don't worry - with my daughter they were able to keep her in almost another month after I went into labor at 32 weeks, and that was 15 years ago so I imagine they've become a little more advanced since then too.

every pregnancy is differant. In a way maybe dropping this early is good. That way when it comes to the time of delivery it might not be as hard. Congrats

Rw,

This is out of the "what to expect when you are expecting" book,

Dropping, also called enlightening occurs when the fetus descends down into the pelvic cavity. In first pregnancies, this lightening usually occurs 2-4 weeks before deliveries. In women who have had children previously, it rarely occurs until they go in to labor. But, as with every aspect of pregnancy, exceptions to the rules, are the rule. A first time mother can drop four weeks before her due date and deliver two weeks late, or she can go into labor whithout having dropped at all.

I never dropped after the first one. I thought that I had several times with my 11 week old, but it was just the way that his body was shifting that made it look different. And the bigger he got the more pressure that I felt, that gets worse with everyone.

Hope that helps some.

I never "dropped" with my first one, until the day of labor.

I dropped with my second one about a month before labor. It was murder, trying to walk, etc.
