Happy -- O Holy Night, Guitar Town (Steve Earl),any Chris LeDoux, that dorky Barbie Girl song from like five or six years ago ( party song! LOL), Walk On & Fancy & Is There Life Out There (Reba) The last one because it's about a woman taking a step back and taking a deep breath and doing what she dares. The rest because I love upbeat songs.

Sad-- Everybody Hurts (REM), He Stopped Loving Her Today (George Jones), Daddy's Hands....

Funny thing is a couple of weeks ago I was feeling super depressed while driving to work. I turned on the radio and that song "Hang on Sloopy" was on. I was singing so loud and feeling so happy during the entire song. I think we should all make tapes or cds of our favorite happy songs....to jolt us out of the moods we sometimes get stuck in.

Sad song: God I can't think of the name of it but the lyrics go "If the sun refused to shine....I would still be loving you"...anyone know the name?
Always tears me up 🙂

OK, maybe I'm too old to like the song...it's NOT the wall by ludicriss...it's "get low" by little john and the east side boys...as my daughter laughs at me.

Hum, songs that make me happy?

"Hey-Ya" - by Outkast, just because it is funny. "It's Alright" - The Traveling Wilbury's. It Don't Come Easy" - by Ringo Starr (I have no idea why, as it's a song about singing the blues). Of course this is just so cliche - but "Song Sung Blue" - by Neil Diamond.

Songs that make me sad?

"Hurt" - the Johnny Cash version. "One" - by U2. Definitely "Everybody Hurts"

Makes me feel nostalgic...

"Main Street" - by Bob Seger, It Don't Come Easy" - by Ringo Starr (hey a dual purpose song), and "White Flag" - Dido - that one reminds me of my first husband.

Feelin Groovy, What a Day for a Daydream, I'm alright, Brick House, Walkin' on Sunshine, Respect

Basically songs I know all the words to that are about being happy are strong. If I sing loud enough, maybe I'll drown my negativism out!

The sad ones, well, don't want to think about them right now.

There was a show on the other day on I think (so don't hold me to it) MTV2, about "guilty pleasure songs."

It was great because they played songs that everyone knows the words to, and will turn up the radio to listen to - but will not admit to it.

Zinnie -- lol.

Guilty pleasure song? (Go ahead laugh, everyone, it's funny) but I always loved Ice Ice Baby. Sorry. SO not cool, I know!! *grin*

As for Everybody Hurts, it was listed in my bro's suicide note as "please play Everybody Hurts at my funeral." Ironic as hell, he couldn't take comfort and direction from the lyrics, huh? "No no you're not alone......take comfort from your friends.........hold on, hold on, cuz everybody hurts......" So not only the lyrics but the irony slays me. It is seriously to a point where I can't hear REM without feeling the bottom drop out of my heart..........

I always have been one who feels so deeply, identifies so much, with music. It's so....like the lyrics from I think it's Lauren Hill, before she was on her own? "Killing me softly" where it goes "I feel he found my letter and read it right out loud" sometimes the lyrics are such that you just sit in amazement thinking "God that's it exactly!!" Hmmm. Ponderous! 🙂

I have to jump on the Weird Al train with mj here. Generic Blues off of the UHF album makes me both happy and sad when I listen to it. Depends which part I'm relating to.

I wish I could remember them all.

Sad: Raining in Baltimore by the Counting Crows. Really a lot of Counting Crows songs are downers. I like them when I'm sad.

Happy: There are so many. I don't know where to begin. I am a big Steely Dan fan.

James Taylor songs...make me happy and sad at the same time.
Great song when me and the girls are out....Gloria Gaynor-I will survive. Go on now go, walk out that door, don't turn around now, cuz you're not welcome anymore. Weren't you the one that tried to hurt me with those lies, did you think I'd stumble, did you think I'd lay down and die? Oh not me, I will survive. Guess the words come easy when we're all out on the dance floor.
