I think the reason why my type descriptions were as on target as they were for my INTJ counter-parts had to do with the strengths of my preferences.

I am INFJ...but I was 50%, 50%, 50%, 44% in the strength of my preferences, which means that I was moderately expressed in all of those preferences. One of my friends on the other hand, had strong preferences of around 33%,75%,75%,44% for all of her INTJ preferences and it came out describing her so well as she admits.

I would say VERY accurate! I printed the test for my fiance, we're finding it interesting and informative to learn about eachother and explain some things that we couldn't put our finger on! Great idea!

What I really liked about it was that I have been ignoring my intuition, and am now going to try to cultivate and use it more.

This is my first time ever to join in on anything like this. I am going to take the Myers-Briggs test...in the meantime...is there anyone out there who would like to talk/type?

Wow Hollie! You really sparked alot of interest with this! Cool! The one I took had about 325 questions. The results received were much mroe detailed and somewhat different than the ones on the websites you provided, and were VERY accurate! (I found that the ones on your websites describe me somewhat - e.g. enjoys interacting with people, loves planning/organizing (I'm a big event planner), conscientious, practical, realistic, and dependable, loyal, leader, hard-working, etc. (of courdse I picked all the 'good" prerences here ... =) ... the one line on the website that is so true about me and helped open my eyes to what my biggest problem is is this one: "Although normally the ESTJ is very verbal and doesn't have any problem expressing themself, when under stress they have a hard time putting their feelings into words and communicating them to others."

on my way/all ... To help ease your minds a little, I was specifically told to not take the words literally (e.g. Judging does not mean you are judgemental). Here's some information from my literature I received that might help explain things a little better:

The 4 dichotomies describe:

ENERGIZING - how a person is energized - either E or I. E = Extroversion - preference for drawing energy from the outside world of people, activities, and things. I = Introversion - Preference for drawing energy from one's inner world of ideas, emotions, and impressions.

PERCEIVING - What a person pays attention to - either S or N. S = Sensing - preference for taking in information through the five senses and noticing what is actual. N = Intuition - Preference for taking in information through a "sixth sense" and noticing what might be.

DECIDING - How a person decides - either T or F. T = Thinking - Preference for organizing and structuring information to decide in a logical, objective way. F = Feeling - Preference for organizing and structuring information to decide in a personal, value-based way.

LIVING - Living - the lifestyle a person adopts - either J or P. J = Judging - Preference for living a planned and organized life. P = Perceiving - Preference for living a spontaneous and flexible life.

Other notes they list about the MBTI include:

- It describes rather than prescribes, and therefore is used to open up possibilities rather than limit options.

- Identifies preferences, not skills, abilities, or compentencies.

- Is well documented with thousands of scientific studies conducted during a fifty-year period.

- Has ongoing research to support its application.

angel4u:

Thanks for the info you provided! Helpful...

I really REALLY wish that I would have known about the Myers-Briggs test and learned more about my ex-boyfriend before things started to go downhill. I really think that it might have saved a relationship from decaying since most of the problems stemed from what I later learned to be insecurities because of my misunderstandings of his personality.

Remember, it always takes 2 to make a relationship work ... so he also had the responsibility to share with you who he is and why he does what he does. Maybe he did, and you 2 just could not click because you are very different from one another. Differences always seem to cause some kind of conflict, or at least misunderstandings. I think to get through these, it takes 2 very strong people that are committed to the relationship's longevity. And I do believe sometimes that you simply have to let go of some things in order to resolve some conflicts.

The more I learn about different people, the more accepting I have become. And I do believe I have done my best in my relationships to talk through things in a respectful manner. Unfortunately (talkin about my last relationship), I do not believe I received the same back. Maybe he's not ready to be as accepting and open, maybe he felt I wasn't worth trying to work on it, whatever. But I do know it takes 2 of us to want it to work, and do whatever it takes. I hope one day I find that person ... and I'll keep lookin'.

In the meantime, I also believe we do need to understand ourselves enough to know what we simply can't tolerate, which I think (again) is different for all of us. This is the one I struggle with the most!

Keep doing what you are doing Hollie (learning about yourself and others) and I am sure you will find "the one" that will knock your socks off one day too!

Jaba:

INTJ.

Most of my friends are INTJs, which is pretty peculiar given that there are only 1% of you guys in the population. 🙂

The description for my INTJ friends are extremely accurate. More so than the descriptions for my own type. (INFJ)
