I was adopted by a Chinese woman and an English man when I was a baby. When they divorced I was fostered to an Indian (Asian) family in darkest Wiltshire. After 9 yrs I went to live with my mother and stepfather who after ten months sent me back to England. I reluctantly agreed to stay in England thinking that he and my mother deserved a quiet life in their last years. Yet I hated him. Now 27yrs later I just this minute found out my step father died. He lived in Los Angeles and I live in Warwickshire in The Heart of England 3000+ miles away. He lived until he was 93 yrs old. He could not remember one thing from one moment to the next. He drove to the airport to collect my family and could not remember the way home. The last years he spent penny pinching(his words) yet he was a retired dentist in LA! He was loaded, yet he and mum lived as recluses in their house. His son disowned him and, before I went to see them last May, I hadn't see him for 27yrs as I believed he seperated my mother and I. Yet last May he paid for four of us to go to LA and see them. I decided to be pleasant as I knew he was old and may not have much time to live. He met my girlfriend, my stepdaughter and my five year old daughter who he called his baby. Yet he didn't eat anthing he didn't need and lived the simple life. I admired him for that. Perhaps the meaning of life is to do what you can whilst alive and leave as much as you can for your offspring who after all are the propergation of the species. What do you think anyone?
