We have all the men and women who gave their lives for this country, who gave their lives for other people's country....for every war this country has fought.

We have the men and women just like the ones in NY who came to fight the good fight when all hell broke loose there on Sept. 11. We have the "heart" of all those people who have gone before us - here with us today...echoing down through those of us who knew them, who were in our families, in our lives, our neighborhoods...we have their blood that they gave because....it was the right thing to do...

I look at what we have here in America and see their faces...not the politicians, not the people in high places, but the little people, the grunt people. The ones that never got a medal, or applause or even a thank you because they died "unknown" for their heroic deeds. We are all here today - because of them. They are the real fiber and heartbeat of America.

And on another soil this holiday season - we have the same kind of men and women - standing toe to toe against an insidiousness that every one of us little people here - are very much against. I sit at my Thanksgiving meal this year and I not only remember the ones that have fallen, but I remember the ones that are very much standing....in our sted and who do not have family around them this season.

May God in His fullness, in His love for all mankind, regardless of race, color, creed or place of residence on this globe....may He...push back the clock and allow us all to strive a little while longer in an effort to find peace, to help one another and to bury the hatchet not in one another's skulls but in the abyss where it belongs.

I lift my glass in silent gratitude for every single person that has given to this country, great or small, applauded or not - we honor you on this day of Thanks. "Thank You".....and thanks to the families that gave you to us. My heart is also very much with the Afghan people who are at the mercy of their corrupt govt. May food and shelter and peace find them soon....
