So, in an effort for me to get to know everyone a little better... I was wondering what you are listening to? (or would be if you put on some music to listen to right now)

Myself, I have my MP3 player on my headphones, on my computer speakers at work or playing in my truck about 18 hours per day. It is only up to 14 gigs/2100 songs, but it is getting there.

I've got The Killers - "Hot Fuss" on right now. 'Mr. Brightside' is playing.

Take care,
~dill

On my computer, (no cd player, ah the life of a poor single mother), I have a playlist set to random that includes 'the good life-album of the year' 'The Talking Heads-Little Creatures' and 'the shins-chutes too narrow'. Yesterday I was listening to 'u2-achung baby' because i was talking about u2 with Gazelle this week and got it on my mind.

In the car I listen to espn soemtimes because I like Tony Cornheiser and Dan Patric, and when not that, top 40.

I pay a yearly subscription for eTomi Pro.

Here's what I'm listening to...

May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam…roam…oam…oam
And may sunshine and happiness
Surround you when you’re far from home…home…ome…ome
And may you grow to be proud, dignified and true…true…true…rue…ue
And do unto others, as you’d have done to you…you……ou...ou

Be courageous and be brave!
And in my heart you’ll always stay
Forever Young, Forever Young

And when you finally fly away
I’ll be hoping that I served you well…well…ell…ell
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell…tell…ell…ell
But whatever road you choose
I’m right behind you, win or lose
Forever young, Forever young

FOR…E-E-VER YOUNG
FOR-OR-OR…Eee-VER YOUNG

No one does it like Rod Stewart

Y&R, that's actually originally a Bob Dylan song, and one of my favorites too!

EF,

I had no idea that Dylan sang it first.

Will have to check that out...I dig him, too!

Trying out Jack Johnson chilled beach -bum stuff right now ...

Last week it was classic R.E.M anthems, & the latest energising U2 "How to dismantle an atomic bomb".

Oh, and I just discovered an introspective English singer/songwriter on guitar - Stephen Fretwell "Magpie". Gentle & sleepy & thoughtful.

my personal preference is 70s music, easy listening/groovy: simon & garfunkel, sunshine (go away today), Cat Stevens, Peter Paul & Mary, the stones, John Fogerty, an eclectic mix. trying to stay away from love songs. sometimes a song will pop into my head like Stephen Bishop's "On and On" and I can't get it out of my head. Or Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks - which was truly depressing while dh was overseas and HARD to make go away. i worry when its "comfortably numb." better when its that one violent femmes album (the whole thing, believe it our not), but i can't listen to it with the kids, and I'm almost always with the kids.

right now my favorite is anything that sounds like day spa or yoga music. that "doctor for whom I'm taking dictation" might be a worthy addition to my relaxation before bed music. Is it appropriately monotone?

" Oh, and I just discovered an introspective English singer/songwriter on guitar "

Gazelle, how funny is it that if many of us women discovered the exact same guy in a dating situation we would hang our heads and say "Oh, THIS crap again? If he sighs one more time..."

hey, I like this thread.
I love music!
right now my girls are listening to destinys child "soldier" with me they listen to hip hop and raggaeton
and with their dad they listen to rock classic and alternative. so they get the best of both worlds and they enjoy both.

the biggest thing that my two daughters and I do to bond is too sing and dance. they are 8 and 12 years old and let me tell you, they got it going on!!!!

I have heard of 3 doors down they have one of my favorite songs. and I have heard of the 70's music, but the rest can't say that I have heard of it.

Does anyone else like hip hop and regaetton?

Right now I am ADDICTED to the soundtrack from the movie/musical RENT....absolutely f'ing fabulous! Jonathan Larson was a fricking genious, and the world really lost something in his early death!!!

I am also still enthralled with James Blunt, who is angelic voice makes me cry, and his lyrics....wow. The song "Tears and Rain" could be an excerpt from the novel of my life.

Also I found a new love this weekend while cruising Barnes and Noble... Rachel Fuller is her name, the album is "Cigarettes and Housework", or maybe "Housework and Cigarettes", one of those... anyway, I ordered the CD on Amazon.com and I am anxiously awaiting her arrival. Absolutely amazing, emotional, evocative..... yummy, delicious new food for my music starved soul!

Anyway....those are my current crushes, music is my passion!

I am really liking anything by Coldplay. Especially their newer song "Fix You", it's excellent for anyone who is codependent or just wishes they could fix the world. (Sound like anyone around?) Just kiddin. Coldplay has a magical way of pulling you in. I also like Audioslave and Stained. Audioslave's "Doesn't Remind Me", is also a pretty good song. Hmmm...one more of my favs is Foo Foghters, "Best of You". I'm telling everyone to download that, it's a pretty uplifting song pertaining a lot to codependency and finally letting go after being manipulated and taken advantage of. Hope you all check these out if you haven't heard them yet. Much Love, Meg

I love all the choices BegginMeg listed, and crank those a lot. I alos really like Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20. My alltime favorite is AC/DC and I dont go more than a day without slipping one of their CD's into either my car player or the computer and jamming out a little.

I even still bang my head a little bit...lol. Though, as I get older I have to do less banging. Darn headaches!!

I have a collection of music that I got off limewire a few months ago...when I listen to it now its clear I was going through some man-induced heartbreak!!!

Playlist:

Sheryl Crow - Are you man enough to be my man

Bjork - Play Dead

Patsy Cline - Sweet dreams

Destinys Child - Emotions

Will Young - Leave right now (The
ULTIMATE - "I've-just-got-out-of-an-abusive-relationship song" I'll put the lyrics below!)

Massive Attack - Teardrop

Dire Straits - Your Latest trick

LEAVE RIGHT NOW

Verse 1
I'm here just like I said
Though its breaking every rule I've ever made
My racing heart is just the same
Why make it strong to break it once again?
And I'd love to say I do
Give everything to you
But I can never now be true
So I say...

Chorus
I think I'd better leave right now
Before I fall any deeper
I think I'd better leave right now
Feeling weaker and weaker
Somebody better show me how
Before I fall any deeper
I think I'd better leave right now

Verse 2
I'm here so please explain
Why you're opening up a healing wound again
I'm a little more careful
Perhaps it shows
But if I lose the highs, at least I'm spared the lows
Bridge
Now I tremble in your arms
What could be the harm
To feel my spirit calm
So I say..

Repeat Chorus

Middle 8
I wouldn't know how to say
How good it feels seeing you today
I see you've got your smile back
Like you say your right on track
But you may never know why
Once bitten twice is shy
If I'm proud perhaps I should explain
I couldn't bear to lose you again

Repeat Chorus
