Nice.

I'd say to start with a little more compassion and a little less judgement.

Maybe the title should be: WOMEN How do you cope with obnoxious men while going through menopause?

enoch,

LoL...I will be the first to admit that at times I can be a wackjob, complete with air conditioner blasting when it's 40 degrees outside :).

Chin up, guy, try to remember that it is hormonal, and has nothing to do with you. Some women breeze thru it but others have a more serious hormonal imbalance and need estrogen replacement, though there is some controversy about the safety of using estrogen.

Part of the hormonal imbalance includes mood swings, dizziness, heart palpitations and being more sensitive than usual. As you have probably guessed, it is a setup for failure for men because women are more sensitive during this time and men can be more irritating because they don't know what to do. They wind up doing the man thing by disappearing into the safety of their garages even more :).

If your woman is going through menopause, try to keep a sense of humor and encourage her to take care of herself thru exercise and the proper nutrition. This stage causes a drop in self-esteem with some women because it signals the end of child-bearing ability. Others see it as youth and attractiveness slipping by. Perhaps buying her a gift certificate to Curves or for tanning or to get her hair done would help her to feel better about herself. Reassurace that she is still attractive and desirable to you would help.

Personally, I have found that this stage is difficult because of the physical side effects but have found that staying fit (walking, light weight-lifting and exercising) and taking nutritional supplements has helped (flaxseed oil, black cohosh, calcium, etc.).

Hang in there, this to shall come to pass 🙂

Blessings,

CM
