Blondie i know how you feel, i used to have a bull terrior i hand raised her from two weeks old as her mother threw her out she was the size of a cigerette packet when i got her,any way through the years i nearly lost her several times because of ticks ,each time she came back to life by my persistance ,she was on the vetenary altar one time , the vet said to say my good byes to her, but i said to myself kcuf you i then looked my bitch in the eye and told that she should get her act together as i needed her to tell all my worries, she actually gave a little wag of her tail them, from that moment i knew she would be ok,i said good night to her gave her a wink and told her i d see her in the morning.sure enough when i got to the vets in the morning she was up, staggering around like a drunk jellyfish but she was ok, the vet said to me that he didnt understand he thought she was had it.it is really amazing what a living organism will do to survive.
hope your puss is fine blondie and my wishes are there for you both see ya

Blondie, I am so sorry about Magic--hang in , honey. You did the right thing and unfortunately--it's always expensive with critters and I'm so glad that you have someone in your life that you can help you there. I would do EXACTLY what you've been doing--no cost is too expensive when it comes to the lives of my critters--after all they are people--just furry ones. I have a friend who practices reiki who I will tell about Magic--she helped my cat Frankie. And I will pray, too--although I got to warn you the diety and I are not real close but maybe he/she will be so surprised to hear from me that my prayers will be heard.
Love ya, sweetie

Keep the faith, our cat had that several years ago, we need to give him special food, or else. its costly, but the furr ball tosser is still shedding, and coughing them things up, doesn't have teeth any more, but its been at least 6 years since his crisis. My lips to Gods ears, girlfriend.

Blondie,

My favorite song writer said "After you've done all you can, you just stand & endure." So, I'm telling you to keep the faith, you've done all that you can do, now you just stand, and push yourself through. Lean on the support of family & friends & when they can't be there, lean fully on God. And knowing that you've done all you can, Blondie, you just stand!

Blondie:

I thought i had a rough weekend. I had a cat that i loved his name was precious, someone poisoned him with anti-freeze, it broke my heart he would wait for me to come home every night and sit at the top of the driveway and wait for me. I hope that Midnight magic will be okay i love animals also. They are like our children they depend on us to take care of them. I sent you an email on your home address explaining what happened to be me this weekend. My prayers are with you.

Blondie,

I'm helping to keep this thread current so that you will be sure to see it first thing when you have the time to log back on. I hope both kitty and court case are doing well.
There are a whole lot of us out here praying for you and Magic so I agree with pg lova--you just stand--but remember you aren't standing alone.

Blondie, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your cat. He's in the best place he can be right now where the vet can watch him and administer treatment at the drop of a hat if need be. And when you think about it, the money isn't that bad. This is a member of your family and you'll do whatever it takes to get him better! I really believe he'll pull through though, since he's hung in there this long. You be sure to take care of yourself though! You don't want to be too sick to take care of him when he comes home. Hang in there, girl!

EGADS!!! I don't get on the computer for a few days and look what happens!! Please let us know how he is! My cat hasn't been okay either...been wondering if he's just lazy or what. He was used as pitbull bait when he was two months old. Was the only cat found alive in this yard strewn with dead cat parts. Both of his back legs were broken and poking through his flesh. He had two really bad puncture wounds in his stomach - which are now bad hernias... But, they got to him in time...he was pulling himself around, badly infected and half dead, by his front two paws. Two vet clinics put him back together again. He has two metal pins, one in each leg, both legs are kinda stiff, but he manages really well, just walks and does things a little different. Is a manx, has a pajama butt, bobbed tail, too cute! Was a real trooper, so they say, Santa Monica had him in the papers following his progress. I found him at a shelter a couple months later and adopted him. Actually, they said - he picked me... Guess he never went to sleep in anyone's arms before and he passed out in mine. I told them I had no intention of adopting one, was just getting an animal fix by stopping by. They had a corner set up across from my vitamin store, so I stopped in...and the rest is history. (smile)

But, his hernias are still there and I know I have to get them fixed, surprised they didn't fix them when they had him, but guess money was an issue since they were donating their time and resources. He's quite a character, very, very dignified, stares dogs down like - excuse me and your name would be? (smile)

But, lately he's put on weight and the bulges are getting more profound, so his butt is on a diet. And like you, I can't afford the vet bills either. I know to take him in and even begin anything - I'm looking at $500 for all the tests, etc.

But, he's not as bad as yours.... It's sooo hard - they are your babies.... Sounds like your weekend was one huge roller coaster!!! Mine wasn't good, at least not Thanksgiving Day. Me and my bf, just stayed at my house and tried to have a quiet meal and just hang out. Well...that didn't turn out good. The little punk across from my front door decided to blast his techno music, which he has done for the last two months since I've been there. I asked him to turn it down, was rattling my windows. He nodded, smirked, but didn't turn it down at all. I just got tired of it, couldn't hear myself think, so I called the cops. They came, he turned it down and then went off after they left. The things he shouted my way - I won't repeat here, but some rather serious threats my way. My bf was ready to - take care of business, but trouble is - he "would" do - just that. He's alot like me and he doesn't play around about much of anything. And this little punk is obviously strung out on something most of the time anyways. His eyes are always deep red. So, we both just bit our tongues. Thing with my bf is - he's pretty much a walking weapon. So, this guy who's shorter than me and oh so stupid - really doesn't want to get serious in his direction or mine for that matter. We are real quiet people, mind our business, have been nice and polite to him but they are always living their life - right in front of our face and constantly pushing the envelope....so I guess they imagine that - they can push and we won't respond. But, regarding us - you have to watch the quiet ones....(smile)

So...on the saga goes...just so tired of it. As you know, had to move a couple of months ago because my ex-friend - decided to move a rapist into our house as her "new guy". 26 years of his 41 in prison, just got out recently. So, I move out and now this....ugh.

This new neighbor of mine also has a little 2 yr. old girl, with no mother around in sight. Can't for the life of me understand that if he just got off probation - why does he have custody of her? His grandmother lives behind him, so I'm thinking - she probably got custody and he keeps her. He yells and screams and growls at her - constantly...is sooo sad to listen to. Have some things I need to look into here concerning that. She's soo cute and all he does is sit over the and go off on her or pick at her and get her to yelling like he does, then he just laughs at her. Plays that deafening music all the time with her right in the middle of it. Is sad.... So, I know what you mean - Thanksgiving wasn't all that for me either. Pretty much sucked.

Blondie, I am SO happy Magic is on the mend. My BF had a cat named Ptolemy who lived to be 16 years old.
When I moved in with my BF, I fell in love with Ptolemy--a truly placid cat. About a year after I moved in, Ptolemy stopped eating and acted weak so we took him to the emergency vet service as it was Memorial Day weekend and we were told that Ptolemy would more than likely die before the weekend was through but they said that they would do what they could. They pumped him full of fluids as he was dehydrated and sent him home with us. On Monday Ptolemy was still alive so we took him to my vet who diagnosed Ptolemy as diabetic and from there on we kept him on insulin and a special diet--I was the one that administered the shots--the BF was too squeamish. I don't even want to talk about the expense.
Ptolemy just passed away last March while we were in Florida. A very freaked out critter sitter called us on my BF's cellphone while we were in the airport getting ready to board our return flight. He died sleeping on his favorite spot on our bed. We had a funeral in our back yard when we got home and planted some flowers on the spot were Ptolemy is buried.
The moral is that Ptolemy lived 3 years longer than was expected--so you just never know.
Ladeska--Keep fighting the good fight.
Stay cool and do what you have to. Want to join my extended family? There's plenty of room.

How do you wash a moth-- with a really tiny loofah and non-scented shower gel? Do moths like to be washed?
There are some references in these threads to some serious deviance but THIS is a new one 🙂
OK, all joking aside(yeah, right)--
there is pet health insurance out there but I don't know how many insurance companies will insure a kitty with an existing condition. I don't have any info with me(I'm at work) but I'll look up some paperwork I've got at home for a couple of companies and get back to you. In the long run, it might save you money on black stockings at least.
