Hello all:

Welcome to kc's virtual baby shower bash! All are welcome and gifts are not required, but if you would like to send a virtual gift--that's great! What is requested are your thoughts, well-wishes and blessings for KC and baby...

Help yourself to a piece of the raspberry chocolate torte made specially for the mom to be...don't forget the scoop of homemade vanilla ice-cream! Pour yourself a cup of lemonade, coffee, or tea, and let's visit!

Hello,

I just arrived with a bottle of Maple wine I bought at the Jost Vineyard in Nova Scotia. It is AMAZING!!! It is a sweet dessert wine and is wonderful poured over vanilla ice-cream.

Enjoy everyone!!

KC, I know you can't indulge right now, but I have brought you an extra bottle for you to try after you have the baby!!!!!

What a great ideal.

My biggest peice of advise - and since you already have babies you know this but - TAKE TIME FOR YOU!!

I have a quote posted on my fridge at home that reads "insantiy is hereditary, you get it from your kids". I love that one. But actually, it's my kids that have kept me sane thru all the craziness of my life.

Best wishes to you KC.

Hey, can we play that game where you guess how many squares of toilet paper will wrap around her big ol' belly?

Miss you guys......

Hi Kc,

I hope you will have safe delivery with least pain and God will give you strength to endure during and past delivery.

I am not yet mom. My advice would be is to love and respect your kids with moderation. Do not withhold love from them and keep forgiving your EX, it is the BEST gift you will ever give to them, to your Ex and especially to yourself.

I will be bringing some Homemade Blueberry Scones to the baby shower with Iced Lemonade.

(((Hugs to U & ALL Kids)))

kc30, I have some reminder timps for you...SLEEP WHENT THE BABAY SLEEPS is the first one! The laundry isn't going to go anywhere and any bum that is judging you for how you keep house can go be obsessive compulsive with your ex...you have a real life to lead, which includes raising children!

Go on, put the other kids in front of a movie if you need a break. We won't tell.

Get yourself a pedicure. Those tootsies are going to be visible again, you know, why not love seeing them?

If you are planning on nursing, try some lillypads--they're these latex self adhesive things that I used that work great. When your milk fist comes in, your boobs look GREAT, and they're so firm from all the milk, you can totally wear halters, tunic tops, things that usually need a strapless or some other such uncofortable bra--and what a great time to draw attention to your upper body!

And most importantly, enjoy the hell out of that little angel boy! People may tell you you need to get out, or to had him over and go relax, but if you would rather just snuggle up with your little tresure and fawn all over him and stare at him while he sleeps, just do it. I let people force me to go do things to feel free, but I really just wanted to be with my baby non-stop, and I've since heard that a lot of ladies feel more overwhelmed by the forced support than the motherhood duties themselves. Maybe when mother in law comes and says 'you need a break, let me take care of everything.' You can say 'GREAT! Can you take the kids to the zoo? I just had this amazing baby, and we need some time!' Just if that's your scene, you know.

((((((kc30))))), this is going to be so wonderful for you!

So, are you doing natural labor? Are you excited? Who's going to be there?

Wow...I think I ate too much but it's all so good!! šŸ™‚

Hard to believe there are only 2.5 weeks left! Must confess, I will be glad to have it over, even though caring for a newborn is no walk in the park!

EF- by natural...do you mean frozen from the waist down? If so, then YES, I plan to have a natural birth LOL

I have done it both ways....epidural with my daughter and none with my son. I felt like a superhero after my son (who was 11lbs by the way) but I wouldn't willingly do that again!!

For me, natural meant more stoned than I ever got as a teenager--

I was REALLY feeling the love, told my father how much it meant to me that he was there, bonded with my nurse, zoned out to astral weeks by van morrison...But then I got so relaxed that my contractions actually stopped for an hour! Still determined to do it 'natural' (see:just doped up), they helped me get going again and then when I was close enough I BEGGED for teh epedural. They gave it to me and ruptured my waters, and would you beleive, IT DIDN"T WORK!

SO, I'm laying there and all I can think is "This is exactly what it feels like to be wholed and quartered.".

But, like a roller coaster, once I had her in my arms and got some sleep I thought 'well, that wasn't so bad'.

And it won't be next time either, because I am getting the epedural as soon as hard labor starts!

11lbs, by the way? Oh wow, you ARE a super hero!

You know? I think ANY way the baby gets out of you should be considered "NATURAL"!!!!!

My son was vacuumed out after 72 horrendous hours of labor (had many drugs which doped me up, much like EF's descriiption and an epidural during last few hours)... and my daughter was pushed out after only 4 hours of labor in a scene that could have been used in a movie. I had an epidural with her as well. It was such a pleasant experience (well, as pleasant as pushing a watermelon through a point of a needle CAN be!!!).

Anyway, I consider both experiences "natural"... as I also consider my best friends C-Section. I hate that people make you feel like "less than" a woman if you take advantage of pain medication or need to have a cesarian section. It's not right!!!! The end result is the same. It is natural and it is beautiful!!!!!

Sorry. I just went off on a tangent! I hope I didn't offend anyone!

Bottom line...KC... However your precious little man makes it into the world, it will be a miracle and he will be very lucky to have you as a mom!!!

Much love,

TC

I got a shot of something, and when I BEGGED for some more, please, they said it was too close to delivery, I couldn't have any more.

I got back at them, though, by being the loudest, most difficult and uncooperative pregnant woman on the labour ward. Hah!

I almost forgot my virtual gift - patience and understanding for your older children. May it rain down upon them in torrents, so when you finally get a chance to take a nap, they won't mind occupying themselves while a friend or relative watches tv in your living room!

Thanks for inviting me. My gift to you is a poem:

Real Mothers

Real Mothers don't eat quiche; they don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried playdough doesn't come out of shag carpet.

Real Mothers sometimes ask "why me?" and get their answer when a little voice says, "because I love you best."

Real Mothers know that a child's growth is not measured by height or years or grade. . .
It is marked by the progression of Mama to Mommy to Mother.

Kc, enjoy every minute of every day with your new baby .

Ok, that little poem brought a tear to my eye...thanks!

I'm very excited to meet my little one- how much will he weigh? When will he come? Who will he look like? Is he ok? I'm also scared of the demands that he will bring, but I'm confident I can handle it. My situation could actually be a lot worse...my stbx could be a deadbeat who never helps or sees the kids or pays support.

I have a pretty good plan in place to ensure that I get my rest. My stbx husband says he is "100% available" to me, and will continue to take our other 2 children through the day so I can rest and bond with the baby, which is nice. Then, he can spend time with baby in the evenings so I can get out...it works out well that he is a teacher and will be off for the first few weeks. After that...it's just mommy and the kids all day, every day (scary!!)

I love my children, but I am not one of the mommies out there who lives and breathes them. I need time for myself...to work out, or get groceries, or go to a movie...whatever...just to feel like ME, not just mommy.

I think it's going to be ok...hard and tiring, but ok! I'm quite optimistic and am looking forward to meeting this man.

Also looking forward to regaining a social life as well! hee hee

Hey KC ~

My son was just shy of 11 pounds and yep......all natural (not by choice). I WAS super mom after that!!!

I've gone with very little drugs for my first, epideral and induced with my second and full blown natural pain with my last. My son came so fast my Dr didn't have time to get there.

So tell us kc - how FAT did you get????? Or are you one of those women that just looks like she swallowed a basketball but didn't gain anywhere else?

Ha!

Well Tracy et al....I am happy to report that I look like a swallowed a basketball, and that's IT!! Of course I have gained throughout, but it's not noticeable...with my other 2- I gained 50 lbs with each, and I was HUGE! They were big as well, but still!! This time, I've gained maybe 38-40, but I started at 138 at 5'9 so I'm not that big really...being tall it all spreads out.

I'm all baby, for sure! Truth be told... I feel pretty hot! šŸ™‚ I'm a hot mama! LOL!
