i believe in the saying that goes 'if you're in need of a friend be one..'.
on V-day i will be attending a training programme for this local organisation that i volunteered for. the name is People Opposing Women Abuse, and they provide therapy, shelter, court-assistance to abused women.

i'm mentioning this, b/c from previous experience i know that volunrary work provides a rich sense of fulfillment in life. so i encourage you to get involved in assisting your community, and perhaps that will help fill the emptiness inside.

Do you live in a big city? Perhaps there are events for other singles. Check it out. Help the homeless.

I'll be your Valentine's!!

And I haven't had a "real" Valentines in 9 years... And I'm only 30!! LOL

Just do something special for yourself. Buy yourself some roses or some chocolate. Go to a spa and pamper yourself. Buy some new shoes! Whatever you enjoy, do that for yourself!! There are TONS of people that won't have a Valentine's on Sat. You aren't alone!

((((((((((hugs)))))))))))

A lot of couples I know who are quite happy together don't even celebrate it. It's just a hallmark holiday anyway ---> The History of Valentine's Day

Suggestions? Read Claudiadavies 2/11/04 on "is it obvious he doesn't want me" to hear her best valentines day. Some girlfriends have treated me here and there lately since my finances have just been awful, so I get my tax refund this weekend. Wanted to take them for a drink & shrimp cocktail on Saturday. I said either afternoon or evening, doesn't matter to me. But one can't make it and the other thinks we'd look too pathetic, or like a date! I still want to do it, maybe I will convince her. And I treat my kids and mom to valentines.

Thanks for your suggestions..I think I am going to treat myself to lunch or something. Valentine's day may be a hallmark holiday but it is kind of special to have someone that cares about you.

buy yourself some flowers...treat yourself to some valentine treats--after they go on clearance.

well, those are my plans...plus going and getting a massage at a local massage school.

what's worse than not spending valentines with someone that cares about you is when you and your partner have a major tiff a just before the proverbial day. just happened to me last night, and its really spoiled the weekend for me. talk about perfect timing.

we go to my friend's wedding, and here am i in a jolly party mood, laughing around, chatting and having a good time with everybody. and then later on the night, while at the reception, he gives me the vibe that he's upset with me. ok, i got the message, but i just couldn't put a finger on what exactly i could have done to offend him. so we just acted like all is hunky dory cos we were around other ppl.

so we got home late, and i didnt have the strength to delve into issues cos i had to go work at a client very early this morning and needed the rest. so i was the 1st to wake up this morning, ent to the client, and when i got done i called to tell him i'll be dropping by to check him briefly before i go to my office. so i got to his place and i made a general apology for upsetting him last night. he asked if i knew exactly what i did wrong, and i guessed several things, but then he pointed out a list of all sorts of other things i did, like the way i raised my voice at him (there was loud music playing so i had to increase the volume of my voice so he can hear me), and this and that and the other.

by the time he was done with his list, i was totally devastated. i thought we was having fun and now its like i unintentionally hurt him. so i apologised for that, and i didnt have anything more to say. but he was all sombre and quiet when i left.

while on the highway driving to the office, i just felt overwhelmed. BF and i have these once-a-month disagreements since we've been together 6 months now. its draining my energy levels, its like a different issue each month. altho we thoroughly lay matters to rest at the end of each episode, its really sapping the life out of me. mind you, we do connect at a very deep level, and for the most part we are very happy to love and share our lives with each other.

but this fight has come at a rather inconvenient time. i got other things in life that i'm busy sorting out now. i'm dealing with irate clients, my boss is pressurising me to sort out my professional certification, i got 2 assignments due next week at business school, and i'm attending volunteers training this weekend. last thing i need in my life is a fight with the BF.

anyways, i called him to tell him that i dont have enough resources to deal with the current challenge, because i need to focus my attention on all the other commitments that i mentioned above. so he said i shouldn't worry about it, he's over it and dont want to talk about it anymore. but still it feels so shitty...

I guess my Valentine would be my grandson whom I adore...he is always writing me, emailing me or leaving beautiful messages on my work voicemail.......who could ask for anything better? I really don't care to have a significant other in my life anymore. I guess IM used to being on my own now. Wow how I have changed!

For Valentines Day I plan to go to the movies and see Mel Gigson's new movie "Passion" I hear it is getting good reviews and the story of Jesus is so real to me and it touches my Heart.
