They wanted to know if I was still interested in working with them. I said "yep." And they told me to go there next week for a tour of the place. Sounds like I might have a good job opportunity here.

Hey you know what you need now? Did you see XXX? Those see-thru binocular things that you could see thru crap with? Can you imagine the stuff shipped thru UPS in innocent looking packages? I bet you'd crap yourself at some of the stuff? hahaha.......

At UPS everybody starts off lugging packages around the warehouses and into trucks. Then after a few months you have opportunities for promotion. They only hire from within and everybody starts out at the bottom.

Sounds like a good job. I'm looking into doing landscaping for a living. It would be nice to be outside more.

I hear its really hard at first, but if you can hang, great pay and benefits..... mostly physical, so you can save your brain for what you really want to do, while making the money.... How do you look in brown? The guys out here all wear shorts!!!! Could be a great way to meet chicks ?

Those bastards tricked me.

10 of us were supposed to show up for the tour of the building. 8 showed up. They ran us around the warehouse where everybody was working like a dog. Then we sat in the break room while a guy lectured us on how much the job was going to suck. And after the union and taxes, we weren't going to be earning jack shit. And after 5 years we MAY get employed full time.

I didn't care about any of this, since I have no job to speak of. It all sounded fair to me. Then we took a closer look at the people working just so we could see how awful it was. I spent most of that time looking down some cute girl's shirt. Hey, it was at least 100 degrees in there, and she was constantly bending over with a loose v-neck t-shirt. Yow.

After that we were ushered back to the personnel place. One of the guys in the group had enough and walked out. They had us fill out our third set of application forms. They immediately followed this with another round of interviews.

At that point one we were alone. ONe of the guys said that this was his third time doing it. Each time he was told that they would call him back in 1-3 weeeks. He said he was going to go in there and demand a real answer from them. The first 3 guys came out and confirmed that. UPS said they would call them in 1-3 weeks. But the guy who had already been through it a few times was in and out of the interview office in about 2 minutes. He said that they wanted him to show up on Monday with his birth certificate.

Then they interviewed me. I got different questions being a college graduate. Everyone else got grilled as to why they wanted to work this hard job in the dead of night for no money. I told them off the bat how much I need to find a job, any job, and I didn't care about the hardships. The rest of it was OK. I'm not good at talking to people. I'm sure I messed up some things. probably a lot of things.

They told me they'd call me in 1-3 weeks.

Great...

ONe of the

I hope that it works out for you Silence. Did they say how many openings that they had? Will they let you know either way? Hopefully they won't make you wait very long. It would be a hard job but I know that you could handle it. Best wishes for it Silence.

Just got another phone call. Only took them 2 days. I start work on Monday. I guess I did sound desperate enough during the interview.

That won't be a problem. UPS is only a part time job for the first few years. And my hours are 11PM to 3AM I think. So I still have plenty of time to mope around here.

Well. There are a few misconceptions about the company. I'm not going to get paid shit for the first few years. After 4-5 years of loading trucks, I might be promoted to full time. Then I'll start making decent money. The main reason to work at UPS, though, is the benefits. Those are pretty sweet.

So far I've been in for 2 days. I'm still watching training videos. But they said that we will be hauling boxes soon enough. SO I guess I should enjoy these last few hours of freedom.

I still need to find a boring day job, so I can earn money. Something where I'm not expected to do anything except sit on my ass, because I'm not going to want to do back-breaking work all day long.

The only person in this world that would trust me with their baby is my sister. And I'd be expected to that for free.
