trying to find my niche

Today, my boyfriend just told me that his professor said he was the best writer she has seen in a long time. Part of me is happy for him. But another part of me is so jealous. I guess it's because I dont feel like I'm good at anything. I've been trying to find my niche for so long now. I just dont know what I want to do or cant figure it out so I just float around like a feather. I've always been surrounded by succesful people and it always brings me down because I feel like such a basket case. I'm always called dumb or spacey, my mind is constantly everywhere, I always make really dumb mistakes. My boyfriend says that I rely on too much of what other people have said about me in the past, my mother used to put me down all of the time or my friends just respond with the same old (roll their eyes) "oh, jessica!". I've constantly just gotten by in school. I keep finding these books on body image, I'm fine with the way I look! It's just that I'm so hard on myself about my intelligence level, or even my social skills.

Don't let other puts you down, from the way you write and express yourself, you are as good as the other.(or maybe better than lots of them)
What you need is just some assurance.Be confident yourself. You do not need others word to live.

Hi there,
my advice is to think about what you like to do.
Me, i have so many problems i could open a shop and sell them and still have enough stock for Xmas! but i have skills too, becuase i know what i am good at.

I am good at talking and interviews!!iromic most people get nervous at interviews are are fine the rest of the time, with me its the other way round!

I make jewellery and do other crafts and sometimes sell them locally, soon i will do a web site of my stuff. This makes me feel good when i see someone wearing my stuff.

I also play the piano and enjoy that.

We all have skills and weaknesses, you are no exception, other than you have become very aware of your failings and not so good at seeing your strengths. So great, you have a fun time ahead of you finding out what you are good at.

Try some extra curriculum activities, try things you think you might like, maybe take up horse riding, swimming, art, crafts, writing, do some charity work with animals or children you may have a real skill in befriending people. there are so many things out there for you to try, just sign up for one class in something in the evenings, do it this week see if you like it, if not try something else.

You need to explore things to see what your skills are.

Tell me, what do you like???? go from there, a year from now you could have learned a whole new skill or craft or anything, it does wonders for the esteem, i promise you!!!
