Jesus did not shed his blood for no reason at all. It was meant to heal our soul, body and mind if only you ask for it.

So I took the liberty of Asking God (after reading Mat 7:7) to protect you in all circumstance. He promised to do that at Mathew 7:8. (Read thro verse 10 1nd 11)

I believe I speak for everyone when I say that you are our strong hold. You mean alot to me I read you advices and goodness.......

Just know am with you in Prayers.

codred,

I don't come here to hear about Jesus. I am a Jew and believe differently; That is why this site is set up to allow people of all faiths, and no faiths the freedom to be here.

Knock it off.

Codred We can talk about christianity on the liberation brew side sweetheart. Just contact the SC and ask her to move your thread then there shouldn't be any more problems. ((((Codred))))

Where can we speak about religion? We should be able to without getting upset or telling each other to knock it off...

I mean if you don't subscribe to a certain belief then you can just move on right? Some people need to speak of spirituality in order to cope sometimes.

I don’t understand; Cary can you explain why it was wrong? If I saw something referring to your beliefs I would move on. Ok no I would read it because I love to learn and I respect all beliefs.

As a Christian that knock it off statement hurt me, it seemed a little harsh. Is this site not on a higher level than that?

These are the guidelines for the support threads as stated by the site coordinator in the following post:

site coordinator
7-Apr-08

Hey Folks,
Please hit the "I followed guidelines" button after you read this, so I know you've read it and to keep it at the top for everyone to read & sign.

Over the years, I have tried to make these support threads 'religion' free. All religions. The reason is because religious views come with standard assumptions and judgments. Assumptions and judgments are not a part of what is "supportive" based on the mission of this website.

It has however, been a very difficult and gray area to maintain. Should prayer be allowed? Should you be able to reference "God" or use phrases like "Him" "The Lord" (Christian references), or use any other religious references such as those used in Buddhism, Hindu, etc...? It's been a gray area, until today.

All of my requests to reduce religious references on this site have fallen short and result in a return of a mostly Christian Belief set, and the subsequent use of that belief set in judgmental or offensive ways.

Therefore, I am requesting that there be no more prayer on the support threads, no use of the word "God, Him", etc... no God Bless signings, etc here on the support threads. No religion. If you'd like to pray or talk about religion with others of your faith, please find a religious website for that, or use the liberation brew threads. Do not do this on the support threads.

If you would like to use those WORDS, or speak of religion in any manner as a helpful support or healing tool, please do so completely on the liberation brew threads.

When you see a thread or post that does not follow this, please let me know and it will be moved to the liberation brew threads.

Thank you, and please sign this thread by hitting submit.

Mari,

The trouble with typing and emails is that they can sound harsh, we don't hear the inflections in voices. When I say knock it off it isn't intended to be mean spirited. I suppose there is some frustration as this isn't a religious venue.

All that talk about verse and blood just isn't what this site is about. We, on this site, have been down this road many times and it usaully ends with us all having to accept that and click on a response from the SC. Somone always gets all upset and vows their love for Jesus and quits the site only to come back later under another screen name.

Destiny, thanks for the loving response.

New members are to read the guidelines before being allowed to post - after you create your nickname, you have to click on the guidelines to agree with them. This is what we all agreed to.

"You are responsible for knowing and following these guidelines, breaking them could revoke your access.

Please read & know each guideline below:

After reading: Submit your agreement at the bottom of this screen - Thank You

1. RESPECT, SUPPORT, & FEEDBACK

Keep threads on this track

limit chit-chat

limit judging people

2. USE ASSERTIVE COMMUNICATION

reduce attacks, defense, & passiveness

no yelling

3. SEPARATION OF RELIGION AND SUPPORT THREADS

For religious support or discussion, please use the 50% of the site dedicated for this kind of support and discussion at the Liberation Brew Threads, rather than doing so on the Support Threads which are strictly intended for (non-biased, non-religious, general support & feedback).

4. NO E-MAIL EXCHANGES

reduces safety & opinions

you must remain 100% anonymous here, that's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

5. ONE NICKNAME ONLY, EVER!

bolsters safety and trust

6. NO ADVERTISING

reference only relevant materials

but make it only a reference

7. PROBLEMS ON DISCUSSION BOARDS

Let the Site Coordinator Know | [email protected]"

The one about the email seems to be the only issue that is ever addressed. Religion slides all the time. It's interesting to watch the responses - the levels of apathy at the site at different times.

Thank you, MaryPoppins.

I have joined since SC post of 4/7/08 and was not aware of this.

It was both proactive and kind for you to post the information for all of us that were unaware of the guideline and the reason for it.

The knock it off seemed harsh to me when I read it, as well. I am glad that I came back for the update. I do not want to start eiting my post for fear of not be supported when I am most vulnerable.

Thanks Mary!!!!!! I wasn't aware and thank you for sharing with those of us that are new!

Cary, thank you as well. I was really hoping that you were not intending to be harsh... this seems like a site that is here to help not hurt.

Have a great day everyone!

((((Mari))))

You're welcome. I have bumped up that post a few times from the SC for new people, and there are always people who get nasty about my doing so. When the SC first posted it, there were tantrums from some and quite a bit of back and forth.

However, the SC makes the rules, and they apply to everyone.

Thank you again for your mature response.

Hi Mary,

Here's my take on it. Let the SC manage the site. I have refrained from posting guidelines to newbies on a few occasions for just that reason -- stepping in can stir up all kinds of flak for being "codep" or whatever, you know.

Of course, we don't actually know how many site administrator-types there are, or how frequently they monitor the site. I suppose for those who are really concerned about newbie faux pas (or anything else), they can email the SC with a heads-up about any thread where something "untoward" is occurring.

Or just laissez faire. As always, I'd make the decision based on what you judge to be most in the interest of your own growth and healing.

all best,
kroiks

"Yeh MaryP,

I use to get scolded by a select few here, and called some pretty lame names when I would try and remind people of the guidelines. We're not
allowed to even say one of the names anymore, because the SC(s) got so sick of hearing it. SO, needless to say, I don't post guidelines any longer. Instead, I look out for myself. ((mary))

(((Kroiks))) and (((Shaney)))

Hey Ladies,

People objecting to me posting the guidelines doesn't bother me.

I looked at a thread the SC posted in '05 about religion on this side, and it got the same kind of feedback the more recent post got. The anger seems to come from those who feel entitled and cry persecution at having to follow guidelines.

I wanted Sad About It and Mari to know that I appreciated their responses.

Since Mari asked directly about the guidelines, it seemed appropriate to copy and paste the most recent post from the SC.

Hope you're both doing well.

And another thing, Shaney. I wonder how much the SC is even around. I'm surprised that certain people are allowed to still post after the hatred they've spewed.

Kroika- I agree with you. I am sure you might already be aware of this but one of the steps in a 12 Step Co-Dependent program is when someones life becomes unmanageable they become controlling. I agree the poster you refered to needs to manage their own life.

You're a good gal, MaryP, and I'm happy to support someone like you who can take any situation here, and learn from it. Plus, I agree with a lot of your opinions and advice.... which helps when it comes to supporting you, right? :o)

I'll be around, but if I don't run into you, have a spectacular weekend. ((mary))

BTW... remember that your name officially changes to ScaryP in a few weeks.... halloween is around the corner. boo.
