Hi All,

Someone a few days back was asking about the meaning of a friend in a thread. I have found the material I was loooking for. So here you go:

Friend is one of life's most beautiful gifts

A friend is a person you can trust,
Who won't turn way from you;
A friend will be there
When you need someone,
And will come to you
When you need help….

A friend will listen to you
Even when they don't understand
You or agree with your feelings;
A friend will never try
To change you,
But appreciate you for who you are.

A friend doesn't expect too much
Or give too little;
A friend is someone you can share
Dreams, hopes, and feelings with.

A friend is a person you can think of
And suddenly smile;
A friend doesn't have to be told
That they are special
Because they know you feel that way.

A friend will accept your attitudes,
Ideas and emotions,
Even when their own are different,
And will hold your hand
When you are scared.

A friend will be honest with you,
Even when it might hurt,
And will forgive you
For the mistakes you make.

A friend can never disappoint you,
And will support you
And share in your glory.
A friend shares responsibility
When you have doubts.

A friend always remembers
The little things you have done,
The times you have shared, and the talks you had.
A friend will always bend over backwards
To help you pick up the pieces
When your world falls apart.

A friend is one of life's
Most beautiful gifts.

Luanne Auciello

PS: I think it's somehow too idealistic and there is even some codep, in particular where it says in the 2nd stanza that "a friend will never try to change you, but appreciate you for who you are."

Your comments are appreciated!

Love,

R

I like this definition, but agree it's a little bit idealistic. Maybe I'm just cynical and jaded, but in our society, friends tend to be put on the back burner for careers, college, and the like. I have become pretty self-reliant--maybe too much so!

Sigh.

Rasputin,

That really strikes very close to my heart. My wife should have been my best friend. I let her down in my words and actions. I hope she will forgive me so I can regain what I lost. Thank you for sharing.

OMY,

The book is great! I highly recommend it. I even posted a thread about it, entitled "Ladies & Gents Get the book boundaries in dating", but got no answer. God bless Aces, she is the one who told me about it.

dmurphy,

Pray for your wife. Their is great power in prayer. I am praying for your & her right now, as well as some other people on this board. Please pray for me and my male friend.
We are having some inconveniences.

I hope things will get well soon between you and her.

God bless!

Rasputin,

Thank you for your prayers. I have really been trying to find my path spiritually. I had gone so far off that path and I am trying to right my ship. I am going to church and praying every day, really praying. I have been reading scripture every day and trying to find a way to allow God to forgive me. I know that he can not forgive me until I can try to release my sins to him but I am not able to do that yet. My wife is so hurt and angry and I am not able to forgive myself for that. If I can not forgive myself I know that God can not forgive me because I am not releasing them to his power. I have many friends who are praying for me here as well. One of them said that she spoke to my wife and told her that she was praying for us and that my wife got upset by that. I think she is afraid that she is not listening to what God is telling her and that she doesn't not want people praying for us right now. I know that I can not control what happens and I pray that God can help to guide me and give me strength.

dmurphy,

Don't worry about getting astray. We all get distracted. Even me, If I stop praying, I get spiritually weak.

Also, since you have repented, you needn't worry. If God has forgiven you, why should you set higher standard to yourself above God?
I went through that phase once, realized it was sinful. You needn't get perfectionist or so hard on yourself. This happens especially when people r depressed.

You and your wife need to see a Pastor or Christian Counselor. If you have hurt her, let her cool off before. And keep praying for her and your relationship with each other.

Prayers work wonders. Dmurphy! I need your opinion about a matter since you are a man and all the males on this site. I am going to post a thread today. I believe them men understand each other.

In the meantime, I will keep you and the others here in my daily prayers!
