We have prepared for Thanksgiving by thinking about all the things we are thankful for and now it is time to share our bounty with a buffet. No Thanksgiving is complete without a turkey and delicious side items. The twist for my aac friends is this:

1. Name the turkey in your life (whatever is holding you back from moving on and/or brings you here).

2. Describe the essential sides on your table, these are the circumstances and people you consider blessings in your life.

3. Finish up with your favorite dessert, this is the thing about yourself that you most treasure.

It is not necessary to contribute all your answers at once - multiple trips to this buffet are encouraged. Only one turkey at a time though! Let our feast begin as we are ready and continue through tomorrow.

AND bonus, no dishwashing unless you really really want to. If you don't, just use the disposable plates. Because its all virtual, there's no harm to the environment, in fact some of us might even CLEAR the air.

much love,
bonni

ok, Turkey, my bf, for his "idea" of moving, i wish i never moved and stayed home...but, it was my choice too.

my side orders are my 3 pups, love 'em, so unconditional, and my mom, dad, sis, brother, sil, neices/nephew and all my wonderful family.

for desert, me!! i love me, made some mistake, and yep I am learning from them. 2morrow will be fun, lotsa pigging out and relaxing and just being thankful for "life".

I'll probably be back for 2nd's 2morrow!!!!

Well I kinda think I am the turkey. And I am thinking about a few more. While I am baking I will think some about it. HF

1. I seem to have a lot of turkeys. C's paranoia, my codependency.
2. Sides, career, family.
3. dessert, can't think of one right now.

After I started this thread, our heat went out again. I doubt it will get fixed today. I don't know if I'm even going to make the turkey. At least the heat from the oven would help with the house. I doubt anyone will come out today, but hopefully I will be able to get my husband to call the heating people.

Turkey was cold house. now its just back to my enduring disappointment with how my life has turned out.

Sides: on the surface, I have all the ingredients of a lovely life. i have lovely children, a nice husband, a cozy home and a good job. my family cares for me and I have a handful of friends who care for me, at least on a superficial level.

missing from my dinner table is time alone to reflect and read, time to learn and grow and experience the beauty of knowledge and words.

for dessert, i am basically a good person who can learn from her mistakes. I don't know yet how to fix the mess I'm in, but I do believe that I will eventually find a way.

1. I am the turkey in my life, if I don’t do something everyday, posting/reading here, reading inspirational books, attending meetings, talking to another person in recovery my wheels begin to spin in the sand and soon my head ends up there as well (denial) which then puts me right back into active codependency instead of recovery from codependency.

2. My family, my BF, my friends and my good health are all blessing in my life.

3. I treasure the fact that I not only listen but hear and see my own behavior when it starts to fall on the un-healthy side and I begin to relapse back to my old codie ways. I can laugh at myself today when my behavior is made clear rather then retreat, avoid, deny and become offended by those trying to help me.

I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving day!!!!
