Thank all of you for the questions and hints of what I should do. Of course, I intend to receive my money back
I, too, have done that in the past, but always gotten it back...by the harest.

On receipt of the check, he signed an agreement to turn over his paychecks in exchange for living expenses. He did so last Thursday. (Not very happy Sunday night, when we went over his budget...sounded like the Judge Judy person, who says, "I never asked for a loan."

Before the evening was over, he knuckled under, took the $100 check and said I was taking away his chance to re-establish his independence. I might add, he did several budgets on his own, but there was no BofJ payment in any of them.

The next day he was full of apologies and acknowledgement that I was doing this for his own good.

Tonight, he called at 6 p.m., to say I should come on his dinner hour (night worker) apparently to give him the second check. I said I was unable after a very busy day (It is in another town, an hour round-trip). I offered to eat and rest and then come at 11 p.m., when he gets off. He could spend night to make $80 minimum Saturday helping me get ready for a bath and kitchen remodel that begins Monday.

He has said on the phone at least twice this week that he misses sleeping with me...?

If that does not work, then I could come tomorrow at some point before the banks close. (Though, I have to go again on Sunday, which eats up my time.)

He said he worried we might argue again if we worked togther on a project. (i paid him for two other jobs and there was a little problem getting the commitment. But, after that we got a lot done in pretty good moods and his balance was reduced.)

Also, he wants me to drive him to a neighboring town Sunday--I have to do something for work in this town over the weekend, so it is no big deal. He wants to meet an old friend and see a play. Wouldn't $80 help? I've seen the play and told him I need to focus on house.

Anyway, he is to call back.

Am I being absurd?
