If I am not mistaken there is a referance in Pslams. I am sure that there are many more who are more familiar.

You can go do a web search and find a Bible Reference where you can look up all the scriptures you want by plugging in a word or phrase. Many to chose from.

The only thing I would interject here is that - there is more than one way to be unfaithful to a person, more than one way to "leave" the vows. You don't have to physically touch someone or physically leave for it to be abandonment and for it to be adultery for that matter. Adultery can be committed in the heart.

And the other thing to understand is that - nowhere in the Bible does it say that a person should stand and take abuse or put their children in harm's way either.

Whatever sin might be committed by leaving someone like this would be no greater than any other sin, IF it is sin. But to look at this and not to look at God's provision for us through His Son and what Him taking our place Did for us - would be extremely amiss on our part. Sin locked us into the law. Christ freed us from it. He mingled His blood with ours and gave us power that we did not have before..the power to overcome... Not so we can go out and do whatever, but so that we can "recover" from it when it touches us and touch us it will...oftentimes through other people making bad choices that greatly affect our wellbeing.

God is not a tyrant. People are tyrants. And to get to know the letter of the law and to miss the heart is to not know God at all, but to be in hurry to become "legal" in the eyes of men, that we might be approved by them. Jesus made quite the statement when he stopped the stoning of the woman. What he rendered there in the ways of grace, mercy and "understanding" of our human condition - didn't go anywhere. It's still....who He very much is. The law said - she must die. Jesus said - No...and you who are without sin - cast the first stone. The law exposes who we are and our condition of habitual sin, His blood via the Holy Spirit - teaches us how to overcome it and it's affects on our lives.

We break the ten commandments and laws every day....and it was for this reason that His blood was shed. Sin touches us and it hurts us - painting us with all different kinds of distortions because of it. The power that was in His blood says to us....I deeply understand and at this river...there is Life for you and forgiveness that heals and delivers you up and out whatever dangerous situation.
