Question - How do you love yourself and find inner peace?

This website is a great place to find idea’s and others opinion’s on life. It’s a great place to share our good, bad and coda life moments. It’s a safe place to find comfort in being who we are… I love the fact that I can be honest and not feel as though I am being judged.

I AM CODEPENDENT and I am trying to learn to love myself and find inner peace in my life. I am noticing I am having trouble doing this… Therefore, I wanted to send out a post asking others how they have found peace and inner love.

As for me, I find peace in watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have seen the DVDs over and over, but I like the fact that no matter how tough life gets, I find it relaxing to watch my show.

As for learning to love myself… well that is something I am searching for within… I am learning that I am doing better in seeing the signs of my codependent behavior and I am taking steps to learn from my mistakes. Therefore, I am patting myself on my back, telling myself “Good Job”.

I would love to hear others thoughts and ideas on self love and inner peace.

Hi shortcake,

Loving myself...when I learned not to determine my self-value by what others thought of me.

Inner peace..I pray, read my Bible, and trust God the best that I know how to do.

On my way -

Thanks, I like what you wrote. I think I worry way to much about what others think. That is a great way to love yourself.

I'm still working on it. I'm trying FLYlady and yoga as a start. When I do both, I get closer to loving myself and finding inner peace.

Loving myself is when I know that no matter what, I have value and my own unconditional love. It's when I make a choice because its right for me. Loving myself takes practice. I won't do it perfectly and that's ok! I can say positive affirmations and believe them or keep saying them until I believe them. I know that I am loveable, loving, and lovely!

still working on the loving myself part....

but the inner peace part is sometimes acheived for me by trying to just enjoy things around me.

I am really connected to nature, so I just go outside and watch a beautiful butterfly nectaring at a flower or the spider spinning a web in the window or even just feeling the sun on my face... but when I do this I try to completely throw myself into the beauty and tranquility of the moment. I rarely gain complete peace, but even just partial peace is preferrable to the hectic worry-full life that I usually lead.

I think fing ways to love myself is hard... I see others are searching for that too! I guess that is something I need to soul search and seek out within myself.

I hope everyone is having a great Friday.

I love myself because I know that god loves me. I find that inner peace because I try to don't take life so serious, I don't sweat the small stuff. Life is to short to not be happy and to not have joy.

My mistakes has been my blessing in life.

Nappy!

I think we also need to learn to not compare ourselves to other people.

I think we need to learn to forgive ourselves for the mistakes we have made. We would forgive another person, but hold on to our own shame. None of us can change the past. This one is the one that I think I need to do the most.

Hopeful for change,

I agree I need to learn to forgive myself too. I would forgive others, but when it comes to me I beat myself up for days and then try to fix things. I can't accept its okay to make mistakes. This is a area I really need to focus on.

Thanks everyone for sharing.

I absolutely love all of these ideas.

I can be most at peace watching Disney movies 🙂 Especially "The Lion King".

I also find inner peace journalling, looking at old pictures, running, or visiting my mom's gravesite - it's in a small town in a small cemetery that sits on the side of a hill and is absolutely gorgeous.

It is hard to love myself, but I smile when I know I've made a difference in someone else's life by serving as a positive role model to someone who notices my good qualities and talents.

I don't mean trying to impress anyone or basing my self-worth on what other people think of me, but I have several cousins who are in high school and college. I'm 26 and try to be a friend to them. I try to show them only the responsible side of me, and I love spending time with them. Spending time with my family and friends in general allows me to love myself because I know these people love me unconditionally.
