I HAVE A A BIG PROBLEM WITH STRESS. WHICH IS THAT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. I GET STRESSED OUT, AND TREAT PEOPLE LIKE CRAP. I MEAN, I AM USUALLY LIKE THIS WITH THE ONES I CARE FOR THE MOST. LIKE MY FIANCEE AND FAMILY. I TEND TO YELL AND SCREAM, AND MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT THINGS THAT REALLY SHOULD HAVE NO RELEVANCE. I NIT-PICK, SO TO SPEAK.
AND SOMETIMES I THROW THINGS, AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.
I HAVE TRIED TIME-OUT SO THAT I CAN RELAX, AND IT DOESN'T WORK. THE FEELINGS BECOME WORSE AND MY BLOOD BEGINS TO BOIL.
EVERYDAY I WAKE UP AND ASK GOD TO HELP GUIDE ME, SO THAT I WON'T GET ANGRY AND TAKE IT OUT OF PROPORTION THAT DAY. AT TIMES I AM PEFECTLY FINE, AND THEIR ARE DAYS WHERE I AM JUST MAD AT THE WORLD.
CAN YOU HELP. I AM ONLY 23 YEARS OLD, AND I KNOW THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT'S CAUSED IT AND WHERE TO GO FROM HERE.
ALL I KNOW IS THAT MY ANGER BOUTS BEGAN AFTER MY MOTHER GOT SICK ABOUT A YEAR AGO, AND HAVEN'T STOPPED SINCE.
THANX FOR YOUR ADVICE.
IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE POST A THREAD. THANX!

Look at why you are soo mad at your mother or the fear your mother may not be around much longer-this may help by writing down daily what you are feeling.

I've tried everything in the book to help me cope with uncontrollable oubtursts of anger when I'm stressed out. The absolute best way to cope, for me, is to go crazy on a punching bag. That way you can take out your frustrations on an inanimate object whose feelings won't be hurt.

In lieu of a punching bag, which my husband got me in order to sav his own skin (but it was a good idea), you can try going for a run, or doing any kind of strenuous exercise. I sprained my foot for a few weeks and that was murder because I couldn't go work out to get rid of my excess energy.

The problem is this: we all have reasons to be angry. Anger is perfectly normal. Now, how we COPE with the anger is a different story, and that's where it gets messy. We learn how to cope through previous experiences, conditioning, and the behavioristic model our parents and peers set forth.

I never thought of this but my therapist said that instead of antidepressants, try exercising every day. It increases serotnin levels, and gets rid of excess energy.

Also try cutting caffiene out of your diet (it's bad for you anyways), and cut down on refined sugars. Diet is really important in well-being, and I'm always surprised how much people take it for granted.

This is all from someone who know exactly where you're coming from. Try it for two months and see how you feel.
