This is the most challanging thing for me to do..I have been praying about this..I keep playing old tapes..I play them over and over till it just drives me nuts and I develope a headache..that's how I felt yesterday..
Finding ways to stop the mental chatter is so difficult..I'm doing better today..I did alot of reading yesterday, praying, got some rest, and woke up feeling a bit better..and doing ok so far..I will continue to do what I need to do to get past this mental chatter and get myself in a better state of mind where I can find peace and silence..Angel1

Angel1

I hope you can get the chattering under control. There was a time when I had that for a few days when I was goin thru drug withdrawal. It was the most awful thing. I'm sorry you are having to deal w/ it. But it looks like you are doing great at taking care of yourself. I hope it stops soon.

I will pray you find peace and silence also if that's ok w/ you.

Dear Angel,

I think the "therapeutic" term for what is happening to you is called ruminating. It's where unwanted or disquieting thoughts intrude upon your daily life. Are you struggling in dealing with some kind of past trauma, or are these racing thoughts about past trauma? If so, it might be that your spirit is letting your body know that it is time to process whatever went on for you. I don't know if you talk to a counselor, or if you believe in that kind of thing but it might help. It also might help to write about the thoughts. You can save them like a journal, or destroy them afterwards as a way of saying "I've dealt with that now." if you feel like you have.

Hope you find some peace and quiet in your mind today!

Love,

Ren'ai

OOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

but seriously I agree with Ren'ai, you have to work through the mental chatter to really get through what is causing it. Once you solve that issue, then it stops.

i too go thru this...then i have to loudly say "stop" to make myself stop playing the negative tapes, that put me in a bad mood. I hope this works for you.

Its sooooooo frusterating!! I have the worst insomnia from it! Thoughts going round and round in my head!! Drives me crazy! I have found a little mental excercise that sometimes helps distract me from those thoughts and actually fall asleep. I pick a place from my childhood that I was very familiar with. Then I take a mental "tour" of the place. Sometimes its one of my childhood homes or one of the schools or church. I start by imagining walking up the street towards it, opening the door, walking in. Remembering all the small details I can remember. It sounds cheesy but it does work! Now, for those thoughts during the day...stay busy!! easier said than done, I know
