We had a lengthy meeting with a case worker from Children & Youth last night. She's addressing issues such as school attendance, housekeeping, hygiene and nutrition. They are going to pay to send my overweight daughter to a Shape Down program at a local hospital. She was really very nice. I had a private chat with her outside, and told her about Mark's previous drug use. Am I a bitch or what? I told her he's been clean since the accident (not quite true, seeing as how he had a slip last saturday night). But I also mentioned that he is not in any sort of recovery program. Bad me. I think they are going to suggest alcohol/drug counseling and I'm hoping they make him get tested periodically.

Jill,
I don't know your situation other than reading this post. However, I would say that you did the right thing. You are only concerned about your child(ren) and your husband. If "tattling" on him gets him the counseling he needs then it will be worth it. Hope everything works out for your family.

Is Mark your son? How old is he? I think you were asking for help when you mentioned his drug use. Not a bad thing.

Sorry I called it tattling. No it isn't that. You spoke up because you love them, mosher is correct.

Mark is my husband. He's got a 20 year history of drug addiction, had a Christian conversion experience in December after a near-fatal accident. He hasn't been in a position to use drugs since living with us after the accident (previous to the accident he lived in an apartment 5 days a week, and visited us on weekends). I just do not trust his recovery at this point and think the accountability will be a good thing for all of us.

I know that you did what you because you love them so much that you want to help. I know what it is like to have a husband who is on drugs. Unfortunately my husband thinks he has his drug problem under control and doesn't think he needs help. I filed for divorce and it should be final next month. I left him in May after giving him the choice of treatment or his family. He chose the drugs and girls. Anyway always remember that no matter what you can't make your husband stay off drugs. You will never be able to do it for him. Take care of yourself and child or children. Don't put you or them in a bad sittuation because of his addiction. Keep you safe. And give him to God. I know how hard it is but you can do it. Keep praying and keep yourself safe.
