She may be acting out her anger, with your mom, due to her repeated failures, frustration. If you don't have professionals that can help with her problem perhaps school isn't in her best interest. There are special ways of dealing with this, and each person is unique. The trick may be finding situations where she can feel successful, gardening, cleaning, clipping out articles from the paper. It is confusing that she can read the paper, yet suffers in other area's of academics, but again, all are different.
