"Today is God's present to us" I don't know who the author is but it's true for if you live in today you are present and it is a present.

People are disturbed not by things, but by the view they take of them. They may forget what you said, but they never forget how you made them feel.

Can anyone tell me that saying about a hole in the road - about falling into it time and time again - and then later - just taking a different path?

I remember seeing this posted in a therapist's office once years ago...and it has stuck with me - only I can't recall the exact saying.

Thanks!!!

Scene from the movie: "Good Will Hunting:" "IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT." said over and over again by Robin Williams to Matt Damon.

((Brynnie))

Here's one of my favorites:

Do not pray for a lighter load. Instead, pray for a stronger back.

I apologize for not giving proper credit for the quote, but it is just so good...

I meant "Forgive even when others do not appreciate it."

"Forgiveness is generosity put into action."

A STRONG WOMAN VS A WOMAN OF STRENGTH

A strong woman works out everyday
to keep her body in shape....
but a woman of strength
kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn't afraid of anything....
but a woman of strength shows
courage in the midst of her fear.

A strong woman won't let anyone
get the best of her...
but a woman of strength
gives the best of herself to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes
and avoids the same in the future...
A woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be God's blessings
and capitalizes on them.

A strong woman walks sure footedly...
but a woman of strength knows God
will catch her when she falls.

A strong woman wears the look
of confidence on her face...
but a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that she is
strong enough for the journey...
but a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.

Chapter One
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost .... I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter Two
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter Three
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in ... it's a habit ... but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter Four
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter Five
I walk down another street.

smarterone -hate to disagree - but if "god NEVER gives us more than we can handle...." how in hell do you account for folks that have been so severly traumatized that they actually have to "split off????" into one or more personalities because the trauma is "more than they can handle?"

I know first hand!!!!!

Sorry to disagree!!!!

THAT is a misnomer - - - to be sure!!!!

"God" - really fucked up as far as I am concerned when it comes to severe trauma and depersonalization and disassociation!!!!!! TO BE SURE!!!!

I will work hard - the rest of my fucking life to just TRY and assimilate a life even remotely conducive to SOME SORT of emotional continunity....and hell - even THEN -I may not EVER get there....so DON'T come giving me that CRAP that GOD doesn't ever give you more than you can handle.....it Bullshit!!!! I KNOW!!!!!!!

p.s. - sorry for all of the negative feedback. I do realize that the intention of this thread was to be one of positive/inspiring energy.

(Sorry for the monkey-wrench!) Couldn't help my shattered self!

That is okay, pain has a way of doing that. Sometimes we just need to listen.

Anyway my quote is "The past does not equal the future". It is really helpful to know that you are not stuck where you are just because that is the way you see yourself now.

Ned 348,

Thanks for the open ear.

Hmmmmmm.

My question is: how do you pick up the pieces and try to assimilate ONE cohesive state of being???? Given that the image of yourself is shattered into a thousand pieces????

Ain't an easy (if near impossible) task!!!!

Takes all I have to just "get through the day" as normal, emotionally cohesive people do.

truthBtold you should probably open up another thread. I'll check in on it tomorrow if you do. (Got to get up early).
