I have acknowledged the abuse and abusers in my life. I "told" my therapist and a few people close to me what happened. I have never really "discussed" what happened. When I think about it or talk about it I only do so in very black & white, flat terms. It's the only way I can deal with it.

Take it slow and make sure you feel safe when discussing it. Does your therapist have any idea of what's happened to you?

I wasn't ready to talk for a looong time with my therapist - there were and still are words that are difficult to speak so I have my own safer/generalized words and even now, but especially in the beginning I would email her what I couldn't say and then we could use that to start the conversation but using softer words and at the same time both being on the same page about what we talking about

NOTE to Modesty Blaze: noo she has no idea at all.
and im able to talk about it i just am not sure if i feel safe with what she might do if she knows. i'm only 15 and i don't want my mother knowing and i'm willing to do anything to keep her from knowing this.

T2H:

Perhaps you would like to ask other survivors:

How did you marshall the strength and overcome your fear to tell someone else or your therapist about the sexual abuse?

I was tired of trying to hide all my feelings all the time and really needed someone to talk about wtih it. So I told my freind cause she kept asking if i was ok.

Mine just stumbled out of me and then I couldn't stop talking to that person. So I didn't plan it at all. I felt so much better after that.
