Hi everyone!

Wilma is gone, but her effects are still around. The devestation is so widespread it is unbelievable. Electricity is a commodity? Believe me, after having it turned on and being on for a few hours is getting to be a real challenge. Mine has beeen on then off four times, so it is geting to be a challenge even more so. Even tho we pay for it, the electricity coming onis like a joyous birthday surprise! But the on again off agaion is like a lover's tease; one that is not in a good manner.

I hope anyone who was in the hurricanes's path or tornadoes from it are safe? I am not able to be on line much; loose the internet and couldn't get into servers, emails I open are sometimes blank, oh the fun of it all; alas, unable to get to this site til now.

My town is still without electric on most parts, stores not open and curfew at 9, so no late nite out!

My place only needs new screens. My car suffered major damage from work. The carport metal sheetss and beams were throwm and spun and bounced several dents and major scratches frommy hood to the care roof and sides. Going for estimate Monday. Docs and such only opening up this week.

Packed a bag and stayed at work thru the stom instead of gooing to work for the Red Cross this time. Glad zI was at work; we ;ost the roof or one wing! Looking at the raining sky is a bit weird.

So now we hve the residents doubled up on the other wing. Worked nite before last emptying barrells of water as my 'other' job besides nurse. Fun, not, challenge, yes, we are getting thru it. Luckily we did move people from thrier rooms before the ceiling til3es fell upon the beds, so not one person was hurt!

We called the health dept and other agencies to report day after the storm and so far, we are able to keep the residents where we are, better for them, my job so far secure. Besides, no place else to put them as two other nursing homes had major storm damage.

We are working well together under the situation.

I figured out why. These Finns have Sisu (tenacity, perserverence, hard working). They all have a summer home in Finland where they are in touch with nature and sorta rough it. Then here we have many Jamacians and Haitians who also work here. They are survivors. Put that combo tyogether.......you have it where we work to get it done and well!!!! I mentioned this to my DON, she said, yes, we are like a family.

I am blessed!!!!

I may not be here much but you all are on my mind the whole time!

Love,

Sew/C

Thank you my dear freinds! Internet is still a problem as half our town is still without the electricity and more than half the businesses are open. Still no 24 hour Duncan Donuts for late nite coffee after work.

I keep lossing the internet; some days cannot get any servers and unable to get to this site. And to think it has been two weeks tomarrow the storm hit.

Yes, another storm under my belt; I never thought hurricanes was on my agenda in the land of paradise! I will miss the snow again.

I will say that the days after the storm it was beautiful here! After work I would open my back door and sit on the stoop (no porch there) and just look at the stars shinning brightly and see the moon glow over a land of pitch darkness. I could actually see the stars and Mars like I used to in the country. The fallen pine trees and needles lent their pine smell thru the air for me to take in the aroma. The nites were in the 60s and nary a breeze blew but so gently thru the pine trees that you could hear a soft whoose if you listened. I thought I was in heaven as it was just like the northern states on a fall evening.

Then, still in the 70s for a week, it was great weather to take my bike out to ride around here. The heaps and piles of fallen branches and leaves along the roadside had quickly turned to the crispy, brown smell offered like a fall day before Halloween. The smell was familiar and lovely and I felt guilty for the love of the smell from fallen trees. It seemed like a gift for my longing of old home and winter soon to come I will not see. I could almost hear the crunch of the leaves on a forgotten walk with a crispy apple in hand from long ago.

Where does such beauty come after such destruction?

Love,

Sew/C

Wow, what a beautiful poetic post I enjoyed reading so much which even reminded me of myself, the ever romantic person. Whenever I am in front of nature, I can't help but admire the Great Artist's touch on it even amidst destruction!

Isn't that awesome to be able to see beauty among chaos, sweet frangrances beside the smell of destruction!!!!

Thanks sweetie and I will keep you in my prayers!

~Love, Ras~
