Oh dear seeker, I completely understand. My father suffers from BPD and around the holidays, I miss him so much. I have not spoken to him for five years now and the best thing I can do is to try to make everyone elses holiday better. It seems to work for me because of karma or something

Katrina,

Thank you for posting me, and for offering to let me talk about things. I'll most likely be doing that. As Christmas gets closer, my sorrow of being separated from my family increases. I hope you're managing okay. And I'm here for you, too, if you need it.

Loverbee,

I'm sorry for your separation from your father. I hope you will eventually be able to talk with him again. I agree that the best remedy for heartache is to seek to do heart mending for others.

Good morning Seeker:

Im just reading through some threads and saw your pain..
IM having a rough go of it today as well as yesterday, was almost going to bail on this site,
My tears roll more today as it gets closer to the holiday, the pain grows deep, even worse now that im so far from my daughter,
I cant tell you how much i miss my mom on holidays..
there is nothing more painfull in my heart and not being able to let it go..
IM sorry for your tears and i hope i can help in some small way get you through the holiday..
Take care:
Kasie

Katarina, Loverbee, and Kasie,

I wrapped Christmas gifts for my children today and suddenly got overwhelmed with sadness at not being able to be with them. I almost couldn't stand it. I wanted so desperately to wrap myself up and put myself in the box along with the other presents.

How does one handle this sort of pain? I didn't feel it nearly this bad last year. I had more hope then that things would be resolved happily.

I don't know how it's handled Seek.

Ironically enough there is convincing info on both ends of the spectrum: "Feel your feelings to the max", some experts say. "Keep yourself busy in order to take your mind off your feelings" others say.

Wish I knew for certain.

What you posted really tugged at my heart. You have my thoughts and prayers friend.

Young & Restless,

It was good to hear from you. I think both sentiments are correct about feelings. Some times it's good to feel them to the max, and other times it's best to get your mind off them. It's just knowing which times you should be doing which, not THAT's the trick.

Thank you for your empathy. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers, and I'm glad you consider me to be your friend. That's the highest compliment one can pay another, I think.
