I had the honor last night to be invited by one of closest friends, an ex, to come to his AA meeting and see him get his ONE YEAR chip. My friend has struggled this year with unemployment, recent loss of his Mother, he is an only child and Father died several years ago.

My friend has not only quit drinking, but has managed to diet and workout and lost 70 plus pounds this year. I try each day to reach out to him and remind him that I am here, that he matters. I took him a few months and and bought him a new suit to interview in, now that he lost the weight everything was huge on him, and I am happy to say that he has found something that will keep him going until the perfect job comes along.

(((caraway)))
I can so relate to your feelings you posted. In July, I was able to attend an AA/NA meeting in with my oldest son recieved his one year chip and a birthday cake. It was such a beautiful moment and brought tears of joy to my eyes. He had had a hard time dealing with the program and would have reached his 1 year many months befor, but alas he had slipped...So he started back at day one and what a different man he is today. Thanks for posting about your friend it brings a big smile to my face. It is hard work and they deserve all the credit they can get.
Love in recovery, Peace4all
