I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am doing my research paper on Anger and Anger management as well as exploring the possibility of my anger issues.

I have loads of questions and I am trying to get "real" answers to my questions and just not text book ones.

For starters, what do you think anger is?
How did you know you have anger problems?
What are you doing for your anger problems?
What do you wish was out there to help with your anger issues?

I hope to not offend anyone with my questions. šŸ™‚ Thanx!
if you want to email me privately, please, feel free to do so.

Hi and Welcome here!!! I think anger can result from alot of things.

It can be the result of things going on in our own body - imbalance of some sort, hormones, nutrition deficiancy, not enough exercise, etc.

It can be the need to release after a time of stuffing emotionally and there is "no room at the top anymore" so something has to - blow - and release itself because we have given ourselves over to a cycle of stuffing and releasing.

Anger can be the result of narcissism in us whereby we - demand attention and sometimes find intimacy in that anger.

I think it is also the noxious fumes evaporating from a faulty belief system whereby we have buried lies deep within ourselves and passed them off as "our" truth - and as the lies lie in their rot within us - they create an explosive gas which has to erupt at some point and it usually does so - with much force - because their is nothing quite so vile as self deception.

Anger is also a self protection mechanism and a healthy response to what is dangerous, threatening and illicit. Righteous anger has it's place.

And.......anger can simply be one big giant emotional fart!!! The buildup of the day, all the little insignificant things that we have had to hold until we can get somewhere and let it Rip!!! Some people don't pick appropriate ways and places to "let it rip", which isn't good. But, the fact is - you gotta blow the pipes clean of the trivial debrii that adds up during the course of a day. That's why exercise is so important.

Anger is definately a weird thing. I think there are many types of anger.

There's defensive anger - which is retaliatory, like if you get physically or emotionally injured by someone, or even something (like when you scream our F*CK when you stub your toe)

There's "trigger" anger - which is when someone does a little thing, but it triggers built-up anger that's been stored inside you, so your reaction seems inconsistent with the stimulus, but it's really a reaction to things from the past.

There's the pathological Intermittent Explosive Disorder, where people can have explosive anger episodes where they black out.

There's anger directed towards the self - like when you don't meet your own expectations for yourself, or when you've developed a learned self-hatred from being emotionally abused.

Can anyone else think of others?

There's anger over things you cannot control in life, like traffic, uncontrollable things in nature - hurricanes, tornados, earthquake, fires, etc. Disease, flaws in our human condition, things happening to loved ones that are out of our control, not being able to bounce the ball financially even though you feel like you did everything humanly possible and it still fell apart, stock market ups and downs, basically - anything that happens and impacts our lives hard or in a really pricking kind of way and there isn't a damned thing we can do about it. That...feeling of hopelessness and no control over it - results in anger sometimes..

I get angry when I'm frustrated - you know, going into a shop and asking for something they don't have cos there's no call for it and I'm the fifth person they've told today . . . with injustices I can't do anything about, like torture, starvation, malice

Oh yea, and also with my husband who gets angry when he can't get his own way - that happens because he never developed emotionally beyond the age of three . . . and wouldn't continue with anger management . . .

Hey Polly - concerning the 3 year old thing with guys or some people - they learn that if they keep doing this and getting their way - why change, right? Just no excuse for it though. Big titty babies.

Many people go to anger or label it anger when it could be a myrid of emotional adjectives. Pain, frustration, dissapointment, grief.
