I get a daily meditation in my email that sometimes includes some really good quotes. Today's was about grief and I thought it would be really good to share:

"To spare oneself from grief at all cost can be achieved only at the price of a total detachment, which excludes the ability to experience happiness." ~ Erich Fromm

Hope this helps and blesses some of you today.

lovetocrochet,

Nice quote.

I think we all are always going through some kind of grief at any time of our lives. Doesn't have to consume us, it is just about life. And, there's no one best way to deal with this either. Everyone seems to need to find their own way. I think a lot of grief goes unacknowledged too, because there are no kinds of ceremonies for many kinds of losses and grief always seems like something we are "supposed" to get over. Some things are not even meant to get over, and what does "getting over" mean anyway. Would tend to mean we never even had the experience and learned anything from it.

Thanks Crochet & Grace for the pearls of wisdom.

I believe that grief and trials are part of our life. Everywhere I go, there is a test waiting for me. I don't like them, and grief in particular, seems to make no sense. However, if we look at the big picture, grief can be a great lesson and it can actually transform us and make us new people if we look at it with wisdom and insight rather than resentment & bitterness.
