I need to get back into therapy and want to interview as many professionals as possible in my local. Is it ridiculous to want to interview them before paying for a therapy session? All I want is information about their background, methodology(ies), and references.

I think references are appropriate for my particular therapy needs because I'm looking for someone who can facilitate integration of multiple personalities. I've had plenty of counselors claim to have integrated numerous people, so I think they ought to be willing to have some call me who can verify it. If I get integrated I'd be willing to extol the virtues of whoever helped.

Am I expecting too much? Should I be willing to pay each for this type interview?

Kathy Jo: I don't think it is too much to ask to interview a therapist before starting therapy. You will be trusting this person with your life and paying money for it, so I think it is your DUTY to find the best qualified person for the job. Ask around, I'm sure you can get a free interview session. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! 🙂

I think they really should. I think it's the height of arrogance to say, "YOU, oh afflicated one, have come to me. And irregardless of whether my therapeutic style is applicable to you, I will HEAL YOU!!!!"

Not all therapists were created equal!

there is another one, but his name escapes me. Most of the most messed up people I know are in the field of mental health. Its just amazing to me. But helloooooooooooo what is my most favorite job???????????? cucucu

he used to do a milk commercial, does impersonations, is older now, and lives up north, I used to run into him all the time. Big guy
