Prayer and meditation work. They work even better when you really know and completely know the one you're praying to and meditating on.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Thanks for letting me share
God bless

darth

Yes the Holy Spirit is for the asking - it lives with me daily since I called out in the dark for help.

Glad you did the same - lets hold on tight as it takes us through and beyound our problems.

Keep up you prayers.

Prayer and meditation- for me, always works, though can take time to "work." I've found that the prayer for courage and strength is always granted, as well as the prayer to lift emotional burden. Asking in prayer for certain events to occur sometimes results in an unwanted "nope." I don't like "nope." so, courage, strength, the will to manage and move on, these things, God always has given when I've knelt down and asked. So these I ask for.

Yeah, prayer works.

Have you ever had prayer answered? In mean like in a "conversation" with God. Check this out. One night I'm praying really hard, and I feel like I'm talking to God, and I'm telling him that I could forgive this person if only he would ask- after all, that seems to be what His Son wants, that type of thing. And in my head comes this " why must this person seek out and ask your forgiveness? Free, I gave you a kind and forgiving heart. What is this stubbornness that prevents you from puting this gift to work, this I ask YOU?" And I just started bawling and I dunno- it washed away. Not the anger. But the need and desire for "justice", vengeance, this man coming to me and asking my forgiveness. It washed away. Trippy huh?

Oh, and check this one out. I'm in deep prayer and asking for these things to happen. And in my head comes this "my answer before was no, and it still is. This angers and confuses I see. There will come a time when you too, will see why my answer has been, still is, and always will be, no."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

It's not like I heard voices or anything. There was no "FREE, THIS IS GOD SPEAKING" it was just that little conversation thinking thing that goes on in your head. It was different in these events I described in that my prayer was interrupted with these thoughts and this "answer" if that's what one would call it.

Thanks for posting this tonight 🙂
I needed to hear something spiritual and positive.

I pray and talk with my higher power.
Mostly just short prayers, like Thank YOU, please help me, and bless everyone. Let me do thy will not mine. It helps.

I believe that prayer works. If you are sincere it really helps and give a peace that is hard to explain. It is however something you can't fake. I am not saying anyone here is faking anything, I am dealing with a family memeber who has turned their back on God and everyone and am having a hard time trying to get though. Sorry if I came across harsh.

I'm confused about your post evi. How does one "fake" prayer- it's something one does alone, yes? Maybe no.

I can't see where one could construe harshness in your post.

I'm not sure what it means to "try to get through" to someone who has turned their back on God.

Ooooooh. This treads fragile territory. I was accused by many of turning my back on God and leaving Him when I filed for divorce. Truth is, my faith was never stronger- it's what gave me the strength. I never left God. I left my husband.

Thank God 🙂

My mother in Lost recent lost her husband of 15 years. She was brought up in the chruch and has a good knowledge and understanding of God. When her husband died she has lost her faith, or maybe lost isn't a good word more like ingores it. It has been six months and I am still trying to be there for her but I feel I am losing ground. I know part of greeving is to be angry and I understand that but she has gone to the extreem. She won't pray, but asks me too. She constantly bashed Christ and those who believe in him. I have sat up with her on nights telling her that life is worth living while she contemplated suicide. She is distancing her self from family, grandchildren and the world. I have run out of ways to help her. I have bought books, I have cried with her, I have yelled, you name it, I have tried it.

What I ment about faking prayer, May not have come out right, I see those (on a daily basis) who claim to have found faith as a front for others, then when the back is turned they are back at there same routine (speaking more of those in the jail enviornment). Only God knows what is true and knows the inside of one's heart, this is not for me to judge, I just someday something will sink in.

If anyone has any ideas how to help my Mother in Law please tell me, I can really use the help. I get frusterated.

I wish I knew how to help your mother in law.I'm not too good on that unless somebody wants help.

I hear what you mean about the fake personna as well. Why I hear what you mean is a long story, but believe me please, I know what you mean!

Hey free~

Just read your post from the 2nd, I gotta tell you...I have conversations that go like that with my father. My father passed on almost 6 years ago. I can talk to him and sort of "hear" responses or advise or questions. It's not like I hear his voice, It's more like a feeling comes over me and the words come into my head.

Thanks for sharing this, it's not always something that's easy to tell other people without them looking at me and going "yeah right".

Funny thing to me though, is that my dad wasn't much for giving advise when he was alive.....I guess he's making up for it in death. He is with me always.

I don't know where we would be with prayer and knowing that there is life after death. There is so much here, there has to be more when leave this earth.

I know what you mean about hearing your father now that he is gone, I don't know if it is the 6th sense or what but there have been times when I have been alone and felt the comfort of a loved one who is no longer here. I cherish those rare moments.
