Can you go for a walk for a little bit by yourself sometime today...? How about a nice hot shower...?

You need to do something soothing for yourself... until you can let this all out... How about, listening to a little music ... Do you have anything good your listening to now ...?

Random - i would take a notebook or something to your appointment. When your child is sick, with the whirlwind of emotions, it can be hard to remember what all the dr says. Then you can have all of your questions written down. also, do you have someone else to go with you to your appt to be your "secretary" and emotional support? What time is your appt so we can stop, drop, and pray?

((((RW))), (((Isaiah))))

Sending some strong positive vibes as well, sweetie.

I don't know where you live, but please keep the 'St Jude Children Research Hospital' in Memphis, TN as a possible option B, should the need arise.

They say: "No child is ever denied treatment because of the family's inability to pay. St Jude also provides transportation costs and local living expenses during the treatment for the patient and one family member, and assists with meal costs wihile the family is in Memphis."

(Periodically I get little pre-printed address labels from St. Jude with a return envelope for donations.

Just last week I sent them a small donation.)

I hope it doesn't come to this and that your little one will be OK, but just in case you feel you need a second opinion, please know that this option is available for you and little Isaiah.

St. Jude is right there on the cutting edge of childhood cancer.

They do great things!!!!

According to the literature I have in front of me, "When St Jude opened its doors in 1962, only 4 percent of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) -- the most common form of childhood cancer-- survived.

Today, the survival rate is 94 percent."

(Founded by Danny Thomas and carried on by his daughter, Marlo.)

Please hang tough sweetie!!!!

We are here for you!!!!!!!!!!!

I told one of my neighbors (the only one I actually like) and she just looked at me and said I am so sorry and hugged me. I have to tell you that it was very nice but very hard not to break down right then and there. My husband is remaning calm about the whole thing and very cranky with me.

I know it is easier said then done, but I really feel that positive thinking is so helpful, and prayer! This could turn out to be nothing serious. I'm pretty sure that all of us that have kids have faced similar, and it is scary as can be... but many times it turns out to be all ok.

I also see children all the time in and out of hospitals that do defeat serious illness, and many get completely better rather quickly.

TBT is also correct St. Judes is a wonderful Childrens hospital and they help every one with or without money, they will not turn anyone away. They also help sick children with and without cancer.... I've been a partner with them for years now. There is also the Shriners Hospital as well that do take in children weather the partents can pay or not.. they have all the same as St. Judes too. Hang in there, and try to think positive about all of this, no matter what the mass turns out to be.

It is the best you can do for you, your other boys, and Isaiah.. stick together as a family, and hold each other up. We are all here for you, and your family!!!! Lot's of hugs to you, and prayers.

Healing and Peace

Hi RW I want to say that the most important thing for you to do right now is to stay calm, dont make assumptions, or try to guess what could be happening.

It is understandable to worry that your child may be ill, but he will feel your anxiety. Even if you dont show it to him on the outside, if you are full of angst on the inside he will sense it and react to it in a variety of ways.

so just stay calm, take a breath and one step at a time.

be proactive when you meet with doctors, ask questions and get second opinions if you are unsure about anything. even bring a hand held tape recorder if you need to so you can remember the details.

best for you and your child.

RW wow you are really going through a wringer right now. I am sending you lots of positive thoughts. As far as your son goes, there are a lot of things that can cause lumps, tumors and many other things in children. I know it is hard to remain calm and not worry but please believe me that not all is bad or cancer. Many on here already said this but it really could just be a cyst. As far as leukemia, that can really only be detected through blood tests and kids are really sick a lot with flu like problem which then leads to the blood tests. I know because right now on my daughter's softball team there is a girl with leukemia and I have had many talks with her mom as my daughter has had a brain tumor so we talk alot. Tumors can be benign or harmless and not every tumor is cancer. The fact that the doctor is waiting until Monday would say to me that he is pretty sure it is not a major thing. If the doctor was really concerned they would have sent him right away for more testing and more things to diagnose your son. I may not be as much help as others here other then I have had a daughter with brain cancer. Cancer is horrible but not a death sentence! I don't know where you are in the world but I do know that yes St. Judes is great but so are many of the children's hospitals around this country and in England. Most all of them work things out payment wise and many have programs like St. Judes where you may not have to pay should that be a problem. There is not any children's hospital that will turn any child away!

Hope this helps, and if I can be of any help respond to this thread and I will check it more often.
