I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarie syndrome about 4 years ago. I since have gained weight slowly every year. I've tried diets, exercise and nothing will work. I've also noticed that my periods are getting longer in between and that at times I expierence bleeding during intercourse. What to do? I'm slowly getting more symptoms?

Against popular agreement, I would recommend looking into a low carbohydrate way of eating. notice i don't say "diet" - cuz it's a way of life.

low carbing is about whole, nutritious foods, including dairy, meats and veggies.

low carbing has been recommended for managing pcos and increasing fertility in pcos patients as well, I know of MANY success stories.

atkins is a famous low carb plan, but south beach and protein power are also good places to look.

as far as your symptoms go, everyone is different. are you under a doctors supervision? are you taking medication? many times a low dose birth control pill is advised to regulate your period.

many women who have pcos have excess body hair, apple shaped bodies (big and round, with sticks for legs), dry skin, weight issues, issues with their cycle, moodiness, cravings for sweets, insulin resistance, difficulty conceiving, and thyroid issues, as well as later onset diabetes.

it's all hormone related and a good endocronologist (sp?) can work wonders, a good ob/gyn can too.

2angelsinmo,

i was diagnosed with pcos several years ago. i know what a frustrating experience it can be. unfortunately there is no magic bullet but i can give you the benefit of my experience. i will have to write about it a little later because i am in class and should be paying better attention. We get out of class pretty late and i have to be to work pretty early so i will probably give you an update tomorrow evening.
