As a lot of you have read, my daughter had been through 11 brain surgeries last year. Between May 12th, and October 14th. She has been put through so much, and it has changed her dramatically. She was tested for learning disabilities 2 WEEKS before her first surgery and that showed she was average or above average in every are that she was tested. What we know now is that her IQ has dropped 20 points, she developed seizures, anxiety disorders, an attention deficit issue, among several othe things. She has also gained 25 pounds in 9 months. The problem is that everyone that has run tests on her in the last 6 months say that all of what she is doing right now are symptoms of brain damage to the right side of her brain. This story is far more complicated than I can possibly explain, so try to bear with me. We do not know past the second surgery how many were truly necessary. We finally got her into a new pediatrician last week, and they have her scheduled for an MRI on friday morning. We truly believe that we need a second opinion from a neurosurgeon, but we need the results of this MRI. Please pray that it will show us EVERYTHING that we need to see. We need to know if there is permanent damage done, if it is something that will heal itself in time, or if there is something still wrong with her. There are a lot of unanswered questions about this situation. We have been trying to figure all of this out for months. But, in the meantime, most of you are also aware that I am pregnant (totally not planned), we would like as much of this figured out as humanly possible, before this baby is born. I am due on the 15th of August. That is our fourth baby. In the meantime, I would give anything to have my nine year old daughter back. Please pray that we get the answers that we need, and that we can move forward, especially into her recovery. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

(((scared))) you, your daughter and your family will be in my prayers. As a special educator, I sometimes see cases like this, and I know how difficult and stressful it can be on the families. I will pray that you find the answers you need, and the peace you are searching for. Take care of yourself during this time, and always.

((((scared))), you are in my prayers.

I have three Down-syndrome boys (not genetic) in my family. I know the struggle with learning disabilities. I know it is different but, if you need anything, you just let me know.

Attempt to keep the stress down. I know it is hard to do. Being pregnant is difficult at this time.

We are praying for you and your daughter darling...1L1

My daughter just told me that she is afraid. She thought that this was all over. I feel so bad for her. She is so tired of all of this. Please lift her up. It breaks my heart. She has been through so much.

Dear Scared,

I pray that you and your daughter and your whole family can handle the difficult situations yet to come. That you find more courage, and faith. That your anxieties will reach a plateau where you can find some peace. Best thoughts.

She is getting more and more scared as the day goes on. I have tried to keep her mind preoccupied today, but it isn't working well. I took all of the kids to the lake for quite a while today. I am trying, please pray that she gets some sleep tonight. She is anxious, and scared. I am not sure what to say. She knows that it isn't life threatening. But she will say, I just want to be a normal little kid mom. I just say, me too sis. What do you say? She is anything but normal now, and so different from what she once was. Please pray for her.

I am soooooo sorry to hear about your daughter. I am a "new" mom as of Sept 2004. I couldn't imagine the hurt I would feel if my daughter said " i just want to be normal" >> It would break my heart beyond belief.
I really do hope that this MRI shows something. Even if it doesn't show everything to answer all ?'s. Just a little something to get more of an answer to start her recovery. I work at a hospital and I know for a fact that the MRI is one of the most detailed exams to have as compared to an xray/cat scan/etc. I definetly will say a prayer for you and keep you and your family in my thoughts. I wish you the best. Know that you are not alone. We are all here to support you and try to keep your chin up!!!!! The fact that it isn't life threatening is a blessing in itself. GOOD LUCK! šŸ˜‰ Giggles šŸ˜‰
