My father died 2 years ago and recently some things have happened that makes me wonder if I'm crazy or not. I live in the house my parents lived in and I go out to the garage and I could swear my dad is there, and then sometimes I smell his cigarettes and then most recently there was an owl on the windowsill on his birthday and the day after. Does this mean anything or am I reading more into it than I should? Thank you for your help

Why Question such moments with your DAD..................I imagine that if I died, I would watch over my children.

Your Dad loves you.

I think at times I can smell my gramma's ciggarettes.. and one time I was thinking of her right before I went to take a state exam and there was a penny on the ground, and I thought in my mind that if the date was my birth year, it was from my gramma, and it was a new shiny penny with 1981 on it, my birth year. Sounds dumb maybe, but I carry that penny in my purse everywhere, maybe its not a penny from heaven, but either way, it makes me feel better and remember my gramma.

I don't see anything wrong with any of those things or for you finding meaning in them. My grandfather died 10 years ago this March, but sometimes I can still hear his voice plain as day, and I can still conjure up his smell. For awhile it did cause me more pain, now it brings me comfort.

it could be a "sign" if you beleive in them. My fiance took his own life over 2 years ago, and I swear I still smell the cologne he used to wear...and I can "hear" noises in the house...I do believe in the afterlife and I think that if you beleive in this, it can be your dad "visiting" and watching over you.

Take heart! Perhaps signs that your Dad's spirit hasn't left your side. My late Dad who died 14 years ago still sends me a blackbird to sing by my window, or a stray rose to peep over a wall right in front of where I'm walking - just when I feel lonely and need his support! (He promised he would before he died - and I believe/d him. It helped me focus on positive things:)

Am I imagining it all, or is it true? Well, for me, much deep Truth lies in the human imagination. Where is our Truth anyway (and our whole world, indeed!) but in our heads & hearts?! Love, Gazelle.

My dad died 6 years ago and I know I sense him often. I can catch a glimpse of someone in the hall, turn to see and there is no one there.

I can smell him sometimes, I never realized that cigerettes and stale beer smelled so good!! =)

I think without a doubt that your dad is with you, watching over you. Everytime I sense my dad, I relax and smile because I know he is with me.

Just happen to read an article on the internet, so copied and pasted this for you. See if it makes sense.

What are some of the ways you believe the dead communicate with the living? Do they leave signs, communicate through dreams, knock pictures off the wall…

There are different ways our loved ones will try to communicate with us. For example, if we have their picture on the mantle they'll move the picture or try to tip it over. Maybe they'll come into the room and they'll have a scent on them like the smell of Old Spice which reminds you of Grandpa or a bunch of peonies [like] Grandma had in her garden. They will think of a smell that you would associate with them, and they will actually project that smell to us.

They will think, "I really need to communicate with my granddaughter or my daughter or my son and let them know that I'm really doing great and that I'm here visiting them." And they can get very creative.

The one way it's easiest to communicate to us is through dreams.

MY DAD DIED 5 YEARS AGO AND I FEEL HIM EVERYDAY. I HAVE A CHAIR IN MY HOME THAT HE SAT IN EVERYDAY AND WHEN I ASK HIM QUESTIONS OR LOOK FOR HIM HE SHOWS ME HE IS THERE BY OPEN THE TABLE ON THE CHAIR. IT IS WEIRD BUT I DO NOT QUESTION IT I JUST SIT IN THE CHAIR AND I FEEL HIS ARMS AROUND ME. YOU ARE NOT WEIRD YOU ARE VERY NORMAL. ALWAYS HOLD THOSE MOMETS CLOSE TO YOU AND SMILE THAT IS WHAT YOUR FATHER WOULD WANT.

peaches - you aren't crazy. I think your dad is just watching over you to make sure that you are ok. Is something big happening in your life? something that you used to share with him?
