I was just watching "The Bachelor: Rome". i used to watch it sometimes but now it made me sick.

I mean, all these girls showing off for a guy to "pick them". Gross! why do these girls put themselves through that. Isn't that just another way, another message that women are nothing without a guy?

or am i just being way to sensitive right now??

doubleloss: I thought the exact same thing tonight!!! My daughters are 18, 21, and 21 and I would not want them ever to compete for a man...It was almost like the girls on the auctioning block...thanks for sharing that...

Did you guys see the beautiful Indian woman in season (two? three? It was one of the ones where the bachelor broke up with the "winner" about five minutes after the finale) she was either a banker or a lawyer, I think - great smile. he gave her a rose and she said "um, you know what.. I think you can keep that and give it to someone else!! See ya!"

I was watching it with two room-mates and we were all cheering at the TV.

I've wondered since then whether they have to sign a clause saying they'll stay!

Doubleloss,

I don't watch it because I think it is really stupid. It makes me feel that these girls are acting like "product", no self worth, no self esteem...and I wonder how the ones who aren't picked, feel. And the one he does pick, how will she feel down the road...proud of herself? It must just be the rush of being on tv. Probably are alot like Paris Hilton!

I don't think you are being too sensitive. I just call shows like that "really tacky". And people are watching this junk? If children watch this, what kind of message is it sending to them?

Just my opinion.

oh yes red ht and gg it is gross.

i wouldn't let my kid go on one of those shows. i mean, playing like that with one's feelings is insane. and all for what, it's a big show, people should be more critical about the stuff to watch. so many shows glamorize violence against women. i did a media studies course and we talked a lot about that. now, knowing all the stuff that goes on in women's lifes it just makes me sick to the stomach how irresponsible many of the shows deal with the subjects. they coudl actually use them to educate people against it.

i don't want to pollut my brain with junk like that.
